Yesterday I went to Walmart to get a little plastic molded pool for the kids to play in on the days that Gamma doesn't exactly want to be IN the big pool with them. So off we went, with our swimsuits on underneath, sunscreen at the ready. We walked into the garden section first, and found the pools. Two sizes, little for 10 dollars and big for 15 dollars. Uh oh...then I realized. I can't get this in my car. Even with the seats folded down, and Noah scrunched in the back seat underneath it. No how, no way! What's a Gamma to do. Now I have an excited little boy who wants a play pool and no way to get it home! So we shopped on the summer pool aisle and I wound up putting a snap set pool in a box into my cart. I showed him the photo on the box. See Noah, this is a pool too, it is just folded up small to fit into your car! He saw the picture of the kids playing on the outside of the box, and it was 3 girls and one boy. What did he say? "NO GAMMA...this is a GIRL pool." He did NOT want it. I hid it on the bottom of our cart and picked up a couple of other things, then made our exit. When it came time to pay, he saw it again saying "STOP!!! Put it back!!!" But I bought it anyway. We got home and I took it out of the box, and set it on the grass, and turned on the hose, and he soon forgot that he didn't like it.
I know these kinds of pools ruin your grass. My backyard is more a mixture of thatch and weeds, riddled with gopher hole courses!!! I try to beat those nasty buggers, but they are winning! Ducey is a pitiful help with keeping them at bay, and Maui doesn't seem too interested in them in the back. She only hunts the front and the grove! I eyed the slide in the grove and drug it out to the pool, gave it a good spraying with the hose, and put it into the pool with the hose angled down the slide to keep filling er up, and lo and behold, HE LOVED THE POOL!!!
Yep, Gamma was right. It was not a girl pool, it was a boys AND girls pool! We tried to get Hannah and Clairey to come play but Jake was in the middle of lunch with them, and then they had swimming lessons later. Maybe today they can come splash with us.
BLOGGER is nothing but trouble lately. I have a bunch of fun and fantastic photos to put up, and Blogger won't let me. So I am giving up for now.
If you come over today, we'll be out back in the pool.

we got a pity party goin on over here ;)
Is it an old lady pool too because I'm thinking it will be perfect for me in September?
What an awesome Grandma! Sound like something Frankie would say and he would do the same thing once I have the water in it. =)
I hope Blogger starts working! I wanna see pictures!
HaHa Holly!
FUN FUN FUN Kris! My boys had more fun in those little splash pools when they were kids. If you really want to be cool sometimes, add bubbles:)
I wanna play in there too!
Looks like a blast to me!! gave me a great idea for Lili's slide and pool too!! Hugs from all the way over here!!
I'll be right over. I have to find my snorkel and fins. Now, that I know it's a "girls" pool too and want to play, too. Don't laugh but I actually thought about going and getting a little one to soak my tired gardening feet in outside. You never know what will show up here.
I'm having trouble with Blogger also lately:( I love the kiddie pool, that is what we do for our dog. Looks like Noah is having fun in the girly pool:)
Oh how fun!! We are so lucky to have you Mom! Thank you for being so good to my boy!
XO
Looks like my back yard!
Hey Kris, Are you home????Out back???? Just kidding but seriously I would also be in the pool getting cool. Today we have mid- 90's with a thunder storm moving in. The house is cool so I guess I'll just visit friends in blogland and then sew. BTW, I had the same trouble with blogger last week and just had to wait a day-hope it works for you.
We have a baby pool that we bought for Chelsea (our baby Corgi)...but we have been known to sit in it from time to time while sipping an adult beverage. Who says you have to be a baby (or have one)?
xo, Cheryl
Hi Kris,
Love that he insisted that it was a girl pool. At least it wasn't pink. I had one similar when my kids were little. They loved it. Thanks so much for your sweet comment on my blog, and for following me. I am now following you. Have fun swimming!
awwww...glad everything worked out and he enjoyed the pool...so cute and he will spend every day in it!!!
What a fun idea :) When I was little I used to love those pools.. This weather is just perfect for it too :) Thank you for my Congrats too.. We are so excited!!
When my kids were little like that we LIVED in those little pools. Soo perfect. "That's a GIRL pool" is soo what some of my grands would have said too, haha...When I was young (a million years ago, haha) my boys would sit and play and I'd sit with my feet in the pool in my swim suit reading and tanning, such lazy days....where has the time gone? Have another wonderful day Kris!
Kids can be so silly! Remember when we were little and nobody wanted the broken cookies? Great idea to have 'em have a little pool-no worries-and your grass will grow in again as you can't put a price on their happiness and excitement!
That is a great little pool! We have a blow up one, but yes, it kills our grass, and my husband is a fanatic about that. So, we have it up for a while, then we take it down and let the grass breathe. It's a pain! haha.
