Weekend Work

We had a busy weekend.  Saturday we helped our daughter and son in law on their motor home.  Sunday, we got up and got busy on our list of chores here.  We (as in, Mr. G) removed all of the exterior light fixtures and we (as in Mr. G) took them apart and washed all of the pieces.  I did dry the plexi glass inserts, and walk each piece to our painting area.  Then we took off for Home Depot to buy paint and primer, and a few other things.  After a quick run through Miguels for our growling tummies, we got back home and went to work!
We (as in I ) sanded and primed each piece, then painted them all in white.   You can see I did  have a helper though.
While I was painting, Mr. G was chopping wood.
Tee-Hee....I had to throw this one in here.  He was in fact chopping wood.  He was working all day.  We both were.  I was working on something when I found him like this.  I had to take a picture!!!  He looked so comfy I wanted to go join him!  But instead I cooled off by hosing down the pool deck.  I had opened up the gate and had it propped with a watering can.  We put this gate up when the grandkids came, as a safety feature.  It will come down when all are swimming well.   Apparently, Snacker followed me into the pool area, and I didn't know it.  I heard a splash and turned around to find that she had fallen into the pool!!  Luckily though, it was on the first step.  I called for Greg to get the camera.
How do you like my Aunt Jemima hair bandana?  This is not a lovely photo of me, with no makeup on and my work clothes and hair pulled up, but it is what it is, and as my husband always says....this is what we look like people!!!!  So poor Snacker had her first swimming lesson!  Then we wrapped her in a towel and sat in the sun to dry her feathers!
We were planning to bbq some of the yellow fin tuna that Greg brought home from Mexico.  I had it marinating in Soyaki.
And got some veggies from my garden all cut up and ready to go into the grilling basket.
Cut up my first watermelon of the season too.  Had it all ready to go for Mr. G.  I went in to take a quick shower and when I got out, look who was here.
Gennifer refused to get on camera.  She said she was dirty and had been working all day.  HA....on her WORST day, she is gorgeous!   Both of my girls do that.  They are such pretty ladies. Oh well, no photo of Gennifer.  So, with a little coaxing, they stayed for dinner too.  We bbq'd and ate out back, and just as the fish was coming off the grill, Drew and Diana walked in and joined us too.  We always joke that Drew has "dinner-dar" and can appear out of the blue, the minute a meal is being served.  Luckily, I always prepare plenty.
So the lights went back up...and they look so fresh and pretty.

Although I did notice that when looking up to the lamp from  underneath, you can see where I did not paint the inside of the top piece. So perfectionist that I am, these will be coming off for a coat of paint on the insides!  All in all, a very nice, and very productive weekend!

You and my mother would get along so ridiculously well :)
Except that she refuses to have her picture taken almost all the time...

What a chore! We did a lot of yard work and house work last weekend too. I just got home from the nursery with some new flowers since the heat monster killed them all. GRRRRRRR. Hot, hot, hot here. Glad Snacker was ok. She probably gets awfully hot with all those black feathers and just needed a little dip.

Chopping a few logs sounds like a great idea. But, I need to find some shade here.

We,too, are a lover of grilled veggies on the BBQ... but, mine are way far behind yours. I'll be catching up with this heat and humidity here all week.

The lamps are looking great.
