Hello Friday, and Happy Weekend!! It was a full week, as they usually are around here. I was out this morning to feed the chickens and I was struck at how pretty it was outside. Though we are still several weeks from Spring, you can begin to see signs of it everywhere. The jasmine is about to burst!
The flowers are coming to life again.
Oh, and I found my Valentine's pillows.....4 days before Valentine's!
I had lunch with my friend Jae yesterday, and she brought me this flag she saw recently. She knows how much I love my feathered friends!
We have barely had a winter this year, but I must say, there is something so exciting about Spring.
The orange trees are also about to burst open with their delicious fragrance.
I can remember, years ago when Corona was filled with orange grove properties, and when March rolled around, you could smell this heavenly fragrance all throughout our town. I used to love to have the windows open at night, because the orange blossom's sweet scent would float in like a cloud, and then hang in the air, allowing the perfume to lull me to sleep.
Oh I can hardly wait.
My daughter Gennifer was given a nice bread maker by one of her clients the other day, and I guess all of our bread talk made me pull my machine out today. I made a loaf of whole wheat, and rolled oat bread. Apparently, this recipe was meant for a larger capacity machine. Oopsie.
When I took it out of the machine, it was still a bit doughy so I put it in the oven for about 15 minutes, and then it was perfect!
The slice on the right has Irish Kerrygold butter on it. Yummy!
It has been a pretty full week. I am ready to turn in and catch up on my Blue Bloods!!!!
Nighty Night.
XO Kris

It really IS looking like spring there! VERY cold here, but we still have grass showing! Thanks for stopping by, Kris!
Lucky you...the Jasmine looks incredible...wish I could smell it. Spring is coming early for you...wish it was here too. We still have some snow on the ground.
That bread looks divine!
How beautiful Kris. We do not have blooms and sunshine like that. In fact it has been pretty dreary here all week, and cold. COME on Spring! Have a wonderful weekend.
Way jealous of here Kris. You have finally confirmed to me (what I have known all along) that I live in the WRONG state!
Your beautiful yard has me all jealousy again. I love jasmine. Glad your bread turned out right, that's too funny!
Hey Kris! Ohhh I love jasmine and mine is starting to smell so good too. It is definitley smile inducing. I think i need to get a bread maker. Yum! Happy weekend to you.
That jasmine is GORGEOUS. I wish spring was here in Texas. It's 41 for the high today, but I guess I will long for these days come August. I bet the smell of those oranges in the air is so heavenly. I can just imagine it. The bread looks so good. Hope you have a great weekend.
ps. that is so cool about your nephew working in Fort Worth! I'll keep an eye out for him. :))
hi kris.
i have a flag stand like that and need to go purchase the spring flag. i usually pick mine up at michael's but am not sure who else sells them. hmmm. i made your pizza idea last night. huge hit with the family. i always forget about the frozen dough in the stores. yummmmm
Love the pillows the one that looks like it is painted is adorable. The bread looks great. I love to use my machine for rye bread:)
Oh I wish it was almost spring here! We just got some snow last night and it's still lightly falling. It's pretty, but I'd much rather have spring! Enjoy you beautiful weather!

Yep my mom said when they first moved to Covina it was all groves and the scent was wonderful. We have it of course because of our five trees but lots of bees too so it is a love hate thing for me as Lindsey has to be careful. Oh nothing like home made bread. If I made it all the time I would gain 50 lbs.
Yes - spring is about to burst out all around. I just love it! Even going out to pull weeds is a joy this year *s*
I laughed out loud when I saw your bread about to burst out of your machine. Ha-ha-ha! I'm glad it turned out for you. Your buttermilk pie in your last entry looked SO FREAKIN GOOD! Stop tempting me! I am on a diet here! So many bloggers have posted so wonderful-looking things lately. I try to just skim over them and move on quickly. Have a great weekend!
I love spring too Kris and I always enjoy your blog. I know you don't accept blog awards, but wanted to recognize you as one of my favorites. Enjoy your weekend.
What lovely weather you have, my pretty. That's my wicked witch of the west impression....he-he...
Hey, I just was reading a health book about butter and that brand was the top rated for good health, unless you use no butter at all. But, who is going to do that on homemade toast.
The weather has been wonderful hasn't it...but I am looking forward to the rain! I love the smell of my tangerine tree when its blooming too!!
I hope we can always smell the orange blossoms around here.
Your bread was delish! I love making bread. It's so tasty!!
Such lovely blooms...we had snow today... wanna trade places? LOL Bread looks delicious! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
blessings,
Jill
Gads I'm so jealous of your flowers! Hubby took all my geraniums down into the basement to winter them over but it takes a long time for them to recover and bloom once we put them back outside. We're dieting too, so even though the pie looks delish I'll have to pass. wah.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)
I envy your warm weather and flowers! It was in the teens here (Michigan) with snow but it was at least sunny. I miss the flowers and working in the garden this time of year. I am a new follower hope you will stop by and visit, Laura - Cottage and Broome
Lucky you to have spring - and those orange trees are amazing!! Love that mosaic bird bath too. Glad to have found you - new GFC follower.

I can't wait to make bread!!
Here I am playing catch up again. Been helping hubby with beadboard. Have not had a chance to visit. Spring is my favorite season. Your Jasmine will be absolutely gorgeous. Only an annual here. Bread sounds yummy, I have not used my bread machine since we moved to Alpine. I think I need to pull it out. Have not heard of that butter. Oh how this gal loves butter!
Hugs,
Jann
