Keeping Busy Here!

Hellooooo and Happy Valentine's Day.  Do you celebrate big?  Buy everyone you love a special treat?  Plan a romantic meal with your one and only?  Are you that girl?  Me?  Well, yes and no.  I used to be.  I come from a family that was BIG on holidays.  We celebrated birthdays big, and my parents made every holiday very special for us.  I think I carried that on with my own family.  But this year, I lost my mojo.  No special Valentine's Day gifts for the loves of my life.  No cards, no fancy meal, no homemade goodies.  I did bring each of my grand kids a big heart shaped cookie with pink icing and sprinkles though.  But dinner was  a pizza that Geeps brought home for us.  And it was perfect.  Oh, and I did have a delightful lunch date today with two girlfriends, and that was fun.  But no big "doin's" for us today.
Noah was looking awfully dapper in his red HEART BREAKER shirt, toting his red basket of homemade Valentine's for his classmates.
When I went to see my grand daughters today, they were also dressed in their Valentine's Day finery.  Red Tutu for Hannah and a ridiculously large and lovely red bow in her hair.  Clairey had on her pink Tutu and was just as excited as Hannah about the sweet treats Hannah got from her classmates at her school party today.
On Sunday we watched the girls for Gennifer so she could go have a prowl around at Sur le Table by herself.  She brought me home this darling tea towel!
I have such a thing for cute tea towels, and can never pass them up when I see them.  This is my new favorite.
On Sunday before the rain came, I finished up the rolling bar cart.  I have brought it back onto the covered patio for now, because we have been having rain, but it will reside out back on the bbq pad.  And  it will get used this Sunday when we host our little gathering here.  I will have better pictures then.  We were just about to get some rain and this does not show the true color.  It is cocoa brown.
I think this shows the color a little better.
This was during the painting process.  Those three shelves will be so useful!!  I am going to make a skirt for it too, for when we use it more as a bar and want to hide the shelves.
Pretty cute, eh?
I set that pitcher on the burlap runner to keep it from flying off in the wind before I shot the picture.
I made another delicious bread yesterday.  It was a whole wheat with oats again, but with some added chopped walnuts.  SO yummy!
Well, th...th.... .thhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaats all folks.  This wascally wabbit is going to go get into her warmest flannel jammies  and crease the sheets!!!  Nighty night.
XO  Kris

We had a very low key V-day too.. My hubby worked all day, and we stayed in for dinner.. I hate fighting the crowds at dinner time on V-day.. That bread looks divine :)

We stayed in and had steak that my hubby grilled. It was delicious. Your bread looks sooooo good. I can imagine eating a nice warm slice with melty butter all over it. Yummy!

Cute tea towel. Nice going Genn! Your tea cart came out really cute, such a great find. We don't do Valentines Day here. Never have. I'm not a fan. Glad you had a great day, I think you sent your rainy weather here.

I really like how the cart turned out, and I agree a ruffled skirt would love adorable, maybe something vintage looking:)

The bread looks delicious! I think your Valentine's Day sounds lovely, no pressure, but still fun. I think it should be whatever is in your heart. Your re-done table is so pretty, and that brown is one of my favorite colors. Have a good day, and thanks for your comment yesterday. I was just moody/emotional, for no apparent reason. :)

ps. What happened to Erika's blog??! I am worried, b/c it's not there anymore. :(

Your cart turned out great and I'm sure you will put it to good use. I love the cute tea towel. We aren't too big on V-Day, we always get the little one something, but hubby and I rarely exchange gifts. We shared some chocolate chip ice cream last night (that I didn't need). :-) Hope you are having a nice day.

100% better on the cart my friend. What a fun project. Oh, did I tell you I just tried to sneak a piece of that bread right out of the screen. Yum-Oh.

Oh that bread looks YUMMY!!! Isn't Valentines Day fun just for the fact of the cute things to do for the kids. I completely forgot about my husband for v-day but had all kinds of fun putting pink and red sprinkles in breakfast and rice crispy treats all day!

p.s. I had to give up gluten free. I still follow it about 75%, but it was a NO GO for the family. Plus my friend (a nurse with an Autistic sister) said that there is no real evidence that it helps significantly with behavior in the mild cases like my daughter. If I don't have a guarantee of results, I figured I wouldn't put up the huge fight to get there.

We don't make a big deal out of Valentines day..I always get the kids a little something, but I don't like all the commercialaztion...that doesn't look right...of it. I used to love back in the day when it was just home made cards and candy! The bread looks yummy...I made beer bread tonight with soup, but used gingerale instead of beer...it was great!

You are one busy lady, Kris. I love to see how excited my grandkids get on Valentine's Day. We were at the beach and that was the best Valentine's Day we could have. It was my little great-grandson's first birthday.

We had a festive but mellow Valentines Day. Love the little rolling bar - what a great thing to have on your patio! The bread looks wonderful... I wish I could make a sandwich with it today.

Kris, the cart turned out darling. Love the chocolate color! It will be so handy dandy. I think you did good for Valentines. I always give the grandies something and sometimes something for the family. This year I found some cute Valentine pancake mix that I gave. My mom was such a big holiday person. I think that's why I love it so. Sometimes hubs and I just stay in and relax other years we have friends over. This year we went out to Macaroni Grill. Got there at 4:30. We hate waiting! We no longer give each other a gift because we always head to St. George for a Get away to the Home Shows. Hubby wouldn't step foot in a home show up here. But he was actually the one who suggested it 4 years ago. Been doing it ever since. Couldn't get a room for this weekend so we'll be going next weekend. Hope the wascally wabbit had a good west!
Hugs,
Jann
