Moving My "Girls" House & Garden Going In

Yesterday morning when we were standing in the grove, talking about what all we needed to plant the garden, we started tossing around the idea of moving the Hen House.  I love having it very close to the garden, and close to the shed where I keep my feed and tools, but we thought it might be better some place else.  So I called the strapping lads of the family, our son Drew, and son in law Jake, and they came over and we moved it!  Just like that.
Greg, Drew and Jake got inside and lifted one end off the ground, and I slid a dolly underneath, (or wagon as the case may be ) and with Greg guiding the back, me in the front, and the two big guys inside, we walked/rolled it to the a new spot.  Smack dab in the middle of the grove, underneath the canopy of the big avocado tree.

It is perfectly shaded, and sheltered from the elements.  Why didn't we think of this sooner?  I love this spot.
Suddenly my son was 8 again, and climbed the avocado tree.
I think we confused the girls though.  They didn't know where to go.
By evening time though, they all waddled into their old house, in a new spot, one by one.

And settled in for the night.
I think they love their new spot.
As I walked away, I am pretty sure I heard Tilly say to Ham, "location, location, location!"
I also worked on my garden yesterday, getting two of the boxes planted.  It doesn't look like much yet.  But soon enough, those seeds will be sprouting, and vines will be climbing up those trellis', revealing their sweet produce!
That smaller box in the back still needs more soil added before planting.  And I am getting two more boxes to add as well.
I have planted so far, three varieties of tomatoes, green beans, kale, cucumbers, basil, cilantro, peppers,  lettuce, radish, carrots, herbs, cantaloupe, and yellow squash.
Today we are going to get the rest of the soil we need, and try to get the rest planted.
Switching subjects now.  Do you do yoga?  Me neither.  But I wanted to try it.  But I certainly didn't want to embarrass my ample self in public, so I bought a DVD and asked my daughter Gennifer who loves yoga, to come and guide me through it.  My son's girlfriend Diana wanted to some too.  So on Friday morning, we had our yoga session.  We layed out the mats.  Put the DVD in.  Stood barefoot toe to toe for a picture.
And then we listened to Jillian, and began.
OH.  MY.  GOSH.  Yoga is HARD!!!!!!  I mean, REALLY hard!!!  I am so sore!!!  We are going to do it every Friday morning.  Soon, I will be doing a mean plank, and downward dog!
Mr. Noah showed me just how to do it!!
Excellent form Noah!!!
Well, my brother just called and he is on his way over.  Better scoot.  Have a great day everyone!
April 1st...can you believe it?
XO  Kris

The girls looks so happy with their new location, shade and a soft breeze, perfect! I have been doing a bit of yoga myself lately and I find that I am so inflexible in really every area of my life! I have tried it with the special needs kids I work with and they love it even with poor balance and coordination. We laugh and giggle and have a good time with it. Good luck!

How exciting this blogging is! It's lovely to realise that there are people who think just like me & you seem to be one of them! I am just starting on this journey and feel such a novice but everyone seems so lovely and understanding! Thank you for sharing your life with us. Have a wonderful day. Joan

I'm sure the girls are thrilled. You will have so much fun growing your own produce. You may have to set up a farm stand to sell it roadside. Yoga....blech. but I think you know that.

It was fun to read about your chicken house re-locating project. I think it's good to move it and give them new ground to scratch. Hope it's not so shady that they quit laying! But I'm sure it's not. Have fun with yoga.. I couldn't even try that! It's our anniversary today!
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Hi there, Firstly I love your hens new location! As for yoga, you know I've been doing it now for 5 weeks but keep getting vertigo from it and here I was just getting more limber. Unfortunately on Friday the vertigo made me really sick so I'm stopping the class-oh I'm so sad! But I'm so tired of the room spinning. Have fun for me o.k.
Hugs, Noreen

The girls look so happy! I hope they stay out of your garden!

I love yoga, I have been doing it for about 2 years and it has really helped my core strength.

Kris, your arrangements for the girls is interesting to me because we have been trying to figure out how to have hens at our house in the Portland, OR area. We have plenty of room, but also have coyotes and other preditors we need to guard against. I love that you have an avacado tree and I hope your gardening produces a bumper crop! As for yoga...enjoy!
I am trying to cheer myself on to swimming laps three times a week.<3

your girls look very please with the new location! I am so jealous you have an avocado tree. We ate them all the time in South Africa but here in the UK they are very expensive. Good job on the yoga :)

I hear yoga is so good for you...but I'm not very bend-y. Maybe that's why I could use it! Great spot for your girls!

Happy Belated Birthday Kris! Looks like you had a wonderful celebration at Genn's!

I love Yoga as well. I use to think it was not "worthy" of work out, but boy is it! Enjoy!!

The garden is going in here, too. Three tomato varieties, two of peppers - so far. I am beyond thrilled!

I would LOVE to live under an avocado tree so I am sure your chickens will too! Your garden area looks so cute. I love yoga but you are right - it's hard!

Looks like the girls love their new spot in the grove...who wouldn't?

I have never done yoga either, I have always thought of it as relaxing...but if you're sore it must be hard. Yikes. Sounds like fun though when you do it in a group. It also sounds like you will be getting lots of use from your new exercise room and it looks like Noah already is too.

He is getting so big...as are Genn's girls. Too cute!!
Enjoy your day.

Hi Kris, I think the girls have moved up in the world. Talking about moving to the East side. lol! Yoga is hard! I had to quit doing it after I found that too many of the poses hurt my knees. I can still alot of them that the WII has, but getting down on my knees and reaching back to my feet was a big NO NO!
Hugs,
Jann

One day I will have a wonderful garden like you do. I just don't have the energy to do it right now. My mom always has squash and onions and cucumbers and tomatoes, so she shares with me from her garden. There is just nothing like fresh veggies! I don't yoga, but I know that I should. I have always been really interested in it.

Happy Wednesday. :)
