I Heart Hearts!

I lied.  I said I would come back with a Super Bowl post, but I never took any pictures!  Too busy.  We had fun though.  My Mom and niece Deanna, and the kids all came over.  We ate lots of good food, and watched the game.  It was a blowout at first and I lost interest, but then......oh my gosh....after the darkness, it got to be a nail biter.  Great finish!   Fun day!  No pictures.  Sorry.  : (
I have been working on this scarf for a friend. It is done in a pretty magenta, and she already has the earwarmer in the same color, so I am hoping she will like her matching scarf.
I was kind of surprised at just how many hearts and heart themed things I have, after saying I didn't do much for Valentine's Day.  I found this irresistible teddy at Von's of all places, a couple of years ago.  I just could not resist.  She resides in my sewing room usually, but for Valentine's Day, she has come out to the family room.
She is softer than soft, and has this huge bow in her hair that says Love.

She is holding one of my crocheted hearts, and is resting against a heart shaped pillow, in an antique child's school chair.
I made this chenille mug rug a long time ago when making chenille became popular.  I wanted see what it was all about so I made this small quilt.  Teeny tiny.
I appliqued a small free hand heart on the back too, just for kicks.
A table topper I made several  years ago.

This adorable invitation was brought to us on Sunday by our granddaughter Claire.  It is for Grandparents Day, to be held next week.
The sweetest thing!  Tomorrow we have grandparents day at Noah's school.  Love it!
A favorite photo of Gennifer's family, taken a few years ago, with a brilliant red back drop!
A favorite photo of little Noah, in nothing but a red tie!
Look at those rolls!!!!  He was such a chunk!  Now he is long and lean!
I was experimenting with using a cutout shape to take some photos.  So naturally, I used a heart.

Looking out the front picture window in the living room where I have a stained glass hanging.
Framing the words, A beautiful life.  I love that!
My pups.

In other news......I am adding on to my chicken coop.  Using materials I already have.  I put the playhouse up on top of the existing coop, and Greg is going to cut out the roof so that they can use the space of the playhouse too.  I need to chicken wire the windows and doors on it to keep it safe.
Greg golfed on Sunday, and while he was away, I worked in the yard.  I put this house up there by myself.  Oh yes I did!
Don't ask me how.  It certainly wasn't easy.  But when I want something done, I make it happen.  After we get the hole cut out to allow for the second story for the girls, I will be enclosing the entire run, across the top to keep those coyotes from my girls!  I hate that I can't let them out now unless I am out there, but I don't want to risk another lost hen.  I had to trim several of the branches of the avocado tree that the coop sits under, in order to get the house up there.
Greg got home and found me filthy from head to toe, and he just shakes his head.  Then he took a picture of me, and threatened to Instagram it!!!
I also sawed the legs off of an old bunny hutch and put that inside the coop as an extra laying box.  They line up for that one box on the left perch.  There are three boxes in there and they all lay in the one  box!!!
Apparently I have gotten most of my energy back.  Over the weekend, in addition to hosting two gatherings here, I repainted the bathroom cabinets in main bath.  Re stained and finished the inside of my front doors, where Dusty had scratched it to death after we brought him home.  He had some anxiety when we walked out of any door, and would scratch it and cry.  No good!!!!  I sure hope he doesn't do it again!!  And the doors turned out so good, I began to redo my kitchen cabinets.  Whew!  I am a little tired right now just thinking about that job!!!
Happy Day!
XO  Kris

Lots of beautiful goodies going on at your house. Wondering if hubby would ever let me paint the bathroom cabinets (I say they need it). He's funny about things like that and prolly would nix it.

And I am tired just reading everything you did! Amazing. I love those pictures you took with the heart. I would never think to do anything like that. My brain doesn't work that way. But I'm good at copying others with brains that do work that way! Hehehe. I was sorry to read about your poor little chicken taken by the coyote. That bastard! That's just awful. Glad you are securing them so they can't be preyed upon again. Love your Valentine teddy and your scarf too!

Hi Kris, you wear me out! I wish I could bottle your energy! Glad you had a fun Super Bowl Sunday. We thought it would just be the two of us but Shelby & family had a change of plans and were able to come over and watch with us. I made your Chicken Tortilla Bake, we loved it. So good! We had leftovers for dinner, tonight. I've made your Peppered Beef (probably a dozen times) and everyone loves it. I passed your recipe along to a couple of gals at Sweet D's school and they made it and said it was the best thing they'd ever tasted! Thanks for sharing so many of your amazing recipes. What a great picture of Greg & Drew, boy they look alike. So many fun family celebrations at your house. Your Valentine decorations look so nice. Always so homey! Your girls are going to love their new coop, living the life of luxury in their new high-rise! ;)

Hi Kris! You're baaaaack!! I'm glad you're over that illness and back to your over-achieving self. lol! I'm glad that you're securing the chickens better. After you lose some to coyotes, you get very protective. Dayle's chicken run is like Fort Knox! Love your hearts, I've been making some too... need to make more. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

You are definitely feeling better!!! My head is spinning trying to keep up with all you are doing :-)

Your bear is a Sweetheart. I want to give her a hug. All of your heart themed creations are lovely, but I especially like your views through the heart, Kris. And you know now that I think about it I think I enjoy visiting your blog so much because of the beauty and creativity you so lovingly share even when your photos are not framed with a heart...they are a reflection of your loving heart.

Gracie

Wow girl, you have been on a mission. Can't believe all the things you are getting accomplished. I cracked up when I red you move the second story house up on the roof all by yourself. You amaze me. Your crochet hearts are just darling:) I am finding I don't have enough time in the day to accomplish everything, I need to quit sleeping to get more done, or maybe I just need to put aside the work and do some things I enjoy. I guess the laundry, cleaning, and cooking will always be there:(

That heart lens - that is cool. I wonder if my camera does that. If not, I think PicMonkey will do it. And you reminded me to get my Muffy Vanderbear out - she has a really cute Valentine's Day outfit in her wardrobe. lol. Interesting post, as always.

Hi Kris, I somehow missed this on Tuesday but glad I got all caught up. Sounds like you are feeling 100% better; I still have a stuffy head but so much better than last weekend. Boy you are certainly a busy girl! Love all that you've done for your chicks. I'm starting to feel more energetic too; we are going to the mountains for a long weekend-to a Winter Festival so I'm sure I'll come back ready to relax. Have a great weekend my friend. BTW, I love all of your Valentine's Day decorations-I only have a couple of things and they probably won't get put out.
Hugs today.

Whew, you deserve to be tired girl. Love all of your hearts. You had much more than you thought. so sweet that you attached a heart to the scarf. As tired as you are, I am so jealous of you working in the yard. Mine is still buried in snow. Nice and sunny here today though. I love Noah with the rolls. That is exactly how our little 6 month old Will looks. Too cute!

Hu Kris!

Your chicken coop is becoming a mini mansion--your little ladies are going to love it! Re-finishing kitchen cabinets sounds like a lot of work, but I'm sure you'd love the results.

Life has been quite hectic, but now that our baby granddaughter is here it's all worth it! We are so in love with her!
