Easter

I know I haven't been posting much lately.  Sorry about that.  There has been a lot going on, and blogging has had to take a back seat.
I had another birthday recently.  I received so many good wishes.  And lots of lovely goodies too.
I spent a few quiet afternoons out on the patio, enjoying the beautiful Spring weather, and crocheting this order for three ear warmers.
Christopher, our neighbor next door, showed up this morning looking mighty dapper in his suit after attending Easter  Services.  He has a crush on Erika, and brings her roses all the time.
I think he might have even proposed.
He does love the pretty ladies!!!!  Doesn't he look handsome in his Sunday best?
I made up a big bowl of potato salad to bring to my Mom's today.  Nana used to always make the potato salad.  I have taken that over now.  I make it just like she did.  But mine will never be as good as Nana's.
Before we left to go to my Mom's today, I did a little gardening.  I have everything planted now.  But I will be adding a few more things in containers in the coming weeks.
Can you spot the lizard?  In the tire I have basil, thyme, oregano, Italian parsley, and sage.
I removed these drawers from an old dresser that I junked recently, and stacked them two together to use for raised planters.
In one I have cantaloupe.  The vines will travel up the fence.
I needed a larger space to plant my watermelons and pumpkins.  I mounded up the soil and planted melons on one  half and pumpkins on the other.  I will add another hill in this same area for some fairy tale pumpkins.
The seeds have mostly sprouted up now, and will be taking off in no time as the days grow longer and warmer.

The tomatoes have all taken off strong and sturdy.
The squash are growing rapidly too.
And pots of strawberries are already yielding sweet, juicy berries.
I replant this area on the side of the house with impatiens every Spring.  They will fill this space in very quickly, with their cheerful color.
It was cooler today, and the clouds were rolling in, threatening rain.
We arrived at my Mom's and the family was all there.  We took a nice boat ride on the lake.
Looking for turtles, ducks, and Hippos!!
We came back and the girls had an Easter Egg Hunt.
They counted their money and sorted their candy.
We had a delicious meal of Ham, and Salmon and all of the trimmings.  Ate ourselves silly, and then just enjoyed the day.
Here are our three kiddos.  Erika, Drew and Gennifer.
My Mom and my brother David.
Nana seemed to enjoy sitting outside with everyone today too.
As the day wore on, it became pretty chilly, and we had to light the heater.  Bringing out some blankets to snuggle up with.
Erika is bundled up in the afghan that I made for my Mom last year.
I love this photo of Hannah and her Geeps!
The fellows on the boat.
It was a fun day.  Thank you Mom!!!  And I know you know just what I mean!!!!!
XO  Kris

Thanks for sharing your day with us, Kris. I really enjoyed the glimpses of your family time, and your gardening as well! Your container ideas are so clever.

We had a good day as well. My little grand girls brought in a bouquet of daffodils to my room this morning and they smell heavenly. Before my oldest son-in-law had to leave for work we had a yummy meal of ham, little potatoes, peas, spring salad, and trifle.

We have had the windows open, 70 degree weather and no clouds in Portland, OR...can you believe it :)
xx,
Gracie

I just love seeing pics of your sweet family. Glad to see Nana was up to hanging with all of you. Your garden looks great. I just can't believe how fast things start to take off once the warmer weather hits. I see changes everyday in the garden. Your strawberry plants look so much better than mine and my berries are teeny tiny. Any advice? Love ya.

What a lovely day:) Your garden is looking so inviting, (it will snow here again today) so no gardening in the near future for me. Love how you used the drawers as a planter and the tire. Glad to have you back blogging:)

Glad you had such a nice day. Your gardens are really coming along. Wish we had nice weather long enough to get it done, but is is still early. We are having lovely days now but I have already hurt my back doing too much. Hopefully it will be back to normal by tomorrow...if I don't lift up the grand baby too much today. Heeheee.

Looks like a wonderful, relaxing day! I, too, love that picture of Hannah & her Geeps! Looks like they are up to something! Nothing like the love between those sweet kiddos and their grandparents! Your gardens look great, I certainly have the itch to start planting but have to wait another 6 weeks or so. Take good care of yourself!

Kris, looks like you had a wonderful Easter. Christopher does look so handsome and your kids are so darn good looking. Isn't if funny how we use the same recipe but not quite the same as our mom's or Nana's. I make my mom's potatoe salad and yes, not quite as good as hers. Your garden looks awesome and I love the tire and the drawers. I am just going to plant my Spring garden tomorrow. a little behind, but it should be just fine. Can't wait to have garden goodies!
hugs,
Jann
p.s. I made the blueberry breakfast cake last week and it was YUM!

Sounds like you had a lovely family filled Easter Kris.

I have been absent from blogging too so I didn't necessarily notice your absence...whoops :) Home and life sometimes gets in the way of blogging.

Love your photos!

It is easy to see from all of the cards and gifts you got that you are blessed with many friends and people who love you. That is so nice. Friends and family are such a blessing.

I'm glad that you had a nice Easter. Your mom's home on the water is beautiful. I would love to live on the water like that but that is not going to happen living here.

I've not been up to planting a garden again this year but I really want to. I'm glad that yours is going so well.

I'm starting a new blog challenge. Drop by my blog... you might want to do it too. Have a great week. Hugs, Lura

I'm so glad you enjoyed your birthday! Easter looks like it was a lot of fun too, your family always seems to be having so much fun together. Your garden is awesome! I'm anxiously awaiting being able to plant ours. In the meantime I sit in the sunroom and day dream about where I want to plant things in our new yard and how I'll keep the rabbits out. :-)

Another fab Easter holiday with the fam. You all do know how to do the family thing correctly. Can I tell you just how much I adore your neighbor and that you all are a treasure to take him in like this. It means to world to him and his family. Now, about all that gardening, wow, I'm still on vaca and haven't even thought about it yet. But will be soon. I'll just have to fit it all in now. It counts as exercise right? But I won't be giving up my biking and jazzing anytime soon. Cheers...
