Dolly & Louie

Most who know me, know that I collect mice. Actually, most all of my mice were given to me by my Dad. My Mom still gives me mice, and sometimes my brothers do too. My nickname growing up was Mouse. And on just about every occasion I can think of, my Dad had a mouse for me. Stuffed mice, crystal mice, ceramic mice, you name it....and I have quite a collection. About 10 years ago, my folks were up at our lake, okay it isn't OUR lake, but I call it our lake, Bass Lake, and they saw this huge mouse out in front of one of the shops. My Dad went in to see if he could buy it, but was told it wasn't for sale. Somehow, he talked that lady into selling him that mouse, and my parents gave it to me for Christmas that year. I named her Dolly. Combining Holly and my Dad's name...Don, to get Dolly. I put Dolly on my front porch, and she gets dressed up for every occasion. At Christmas she wears a Mrs. Claus apron, and hat, and at Easter she carries a basket of eggs and wears an Easter bonnet, and during Laker playoffs, she wears a Laker jersey, Angels playoffs, same thing, a red jersey! If we had a summer bbq, she wore a Hawaiian shirt, kids birthday parties, carried a bouquet of balloons. Lots of fun. Well, the year after my Dad died, Mom found another one somewhere...Knotts Berry Farm, I think. She bought it, and gave it to me for my birthday. I named HIM Louie, because when I brought him home and put him on the porch next to the other one, he said " Well Hello Dolly!" And so there you have it, Dolly and Louie! Now they both get dressed up. I was getting ready to put their Halloween costumes on, and noticed how drab they had both become from sitting on my porch and being exposed to the elements for several years. So, it took me two days, but the Mouse Makeover is complete. Meet Dolly and Louie.

I love that mouse! Cute decorating! My mom has this skeleton man statue that has a pumpkin face and obviously it's for Halloween... BUT, she decides to keep it out all year round and decorate it for each holiday... santa hat, eater basket, 4th of July, St Pattys Day... and so on. It's a little weird though, being that it is a HALLOWEEN decoration!

I don't think I have seen your Mom's skeleton Kelly!
I want to some see the fence around your Mom's pool. Sounds like something I would prefer to do rather than the fence across our patio. I would love for the kids to be able to go out and play in the backyard without worrying about the pool!

Kris,
I love your miices (ha) Dolly needs a caldron and Louie needs a cap. I have both of them. Stop on by and I will even give them to you.
P.S. Look at air flights and I think the best and quickest would be to fly into or out of Orange County. I hope Natalie and I can come out end of April.

They are dressed in their finest and looking rather spiffy. I guess it's time for me to break out the Halloween decorations too. Good motivation, thanks.

I love mice as well! I only more recently started collecting and making them. My nickname is sometimes DrearyMouse, or shortened to Mouse as well. :)
You can see some of the mice I made on my blog.
