Talkin' Turkey!

Today I made two Turkey Pot Pies. One for our dinner, and one for Gennifer and Jake's. These are how they look before the top crust goes on.

This one is all covered and ready to go to Gennifer's, with heating instructions on top.
And here are the both of them. Ooops, sorry for fur ball over there getting nosey!

Hi Kelly and Tawny. Thanks girls! It is really easy. All I do is:
Cut up remaining turkey or you could use chicken. I had quite a bit, so I made two, and I have more leftover. About 2 cups cubed meat should do it. Use either one packet of chicken gravy, cooked as directed, or use a jar of gravy, chicken or turkey. Empty contents of one bag of mixed frozen veggies into large bowl, add turkey, diced onion if desired (I used a bit of dehydrated since not everyone likes onions) and 1-2 cooked potatoes. (I just micro a couple on high for about 13 min., then slice up) mix all in large bowl. Salt and pepper to taste. Pour warmed gravy over contents and mix well. Should be quite wet, but not runny. If you need to, use two packets of gravy. ( I usually do) Meanwhile...roll out one crust( use ready made, Pillsbury or store brand, either works fine) and place in bottom of large pie plate. Add your pot pie ingredients and spread evenly into pie. Top with second rolled out crust. Roll both out enough to have generous overlap to make a nice crimped edge with. Then crimp your edges. I like to do a fresh egg wash on top for a nice sheen when baked. Just whisk one egg, and brush a bit over crust. Then make slits in center for steam to escape. Bake at 400 for about 45 min. Remove when crust is nicely browned. Serve with a green salad and dinner is made! Bon Appetit!

Thanks MOM! It was good!!! Now, if you only made us a salad too, I wouldn't have had to end up in the ER without my thumb! Just kidding. Thanks so much for making it though, it was really good. And thanks for coming over to take care of our girls while we were in the ER. I don't know what we would do without you.

It's what Mama's do! I told Dad though, I KNEW I should have made you a salad too. And I was going to,but Noah was hanging on me after his nap, and I didn't. SHOOT!
It was fun to have some time with Hannah while Dad was holding a sleepy Claire, and then when you were putting Hannah to bed, I got to have Claire all to myself!!
Love you, keep your thumb up and take ADVIL, and NO KNIVES!!!

Those pot pies look amazing. What a good cook you are. And thanks for the recipe. I am going to try that.
Also, I never got to tell you thank you for all your hard work for Kelly's shower. All your baking was excellent. Actually can I order some of your sugar cookies? My mom in-law is having a christmas party and those would be great. I can come to you also to pick them up. Let me know. I am off to the store to make turkey pot pie!

I can't believe that you making a pot pie for Gennifer is what caused her to get those nasty stitches, shame shame. I'll take one though, I promise not to make a salad, it's overrated as it is ;) Nudge Genn, mom and I want to see the baby, before she out grows what we got her. We didn't want to impose over the holiday season, and silly us were waiting for an invite, I know how busy it can be with two babies. Looks like you had a great Thanksgiving!! We did as well, it's fun with our growing families!
