Update on my Mom

Mom is doing SO much better!!! She has had her knee surgery, and now that the initial discomfort from the surgery has subsided, she is feeling much more stable and can maneuver around better. Reading that sentence back, it almost sounds like she is mobile! NOT!!! She is still very much confined to the wheelchair, with the exception of shifting from the sofa to a chair, but she is getting better at getting around. Just her morning routine of getting out of her jammies and getting washed up, and then into her clothing for the day is an ordeal! It takes her at least 45 minutes to do such a simple thing that we all take for granted. She still cannot put any weight on her broken leg, but returns to the doctor on Monday and is hoping that he will be putting a regular cast back on her, and maybe get the okay to begin to put a little weight down. That big black boot is like trying to get around wearing a giant ski boot! Her clothing gets hung up on the buckles and it is very heavy and cumbersome. Her spirits are better, but she still has a long way to go. She is at the 5 week mark, and probably almost half way. She appreciates all of you who have sent her cards and well wishes! She still has a long way to go, so if you are out her way, do stop and say hello!
PS When she thought no one was looking last night, I saw her do a wheely in that chair!!!
