Curtains for my Claire!

When Gennifer was still pregnant with Claire, we went shopping one day for fabric for both Hannah, and the new baby, Claire's curtains. We brought an inspiration piece from each of their rooms, and picked out all of the fabrics. I did Hannah's a few months ago, and they were just a quick sheer panel on either side of her window, in a soft shimmery pink to match her room. Then, the rest of the fabric for Claire's sat, and sat, and sat in my sewing room. I have not had any time to sew this past year. I have certainly missed it. But recently I moved Noah's youth bed out of that room, and he now naps in the den and I have my sewing room back. Yeah!! I have been itching to quilt, but vowed to do Claire's curtain before I so much as cut another piece of fabric for another project. So, yesterday and today, I made them. The top two photos show the inspiration pieces we took for Claire's room. This is her comforter to her bedding, and the little flimsy valance that matched. Gennifer never used the valance. And, since I have had the comforter too, she hasn't used that either. Claire is almost 10 months old, and finally Gamma made her curtains! Sorry Genny, sorry Claire!

I lined them with a bleached cotton muslin. I can't wait to see them hung in Claire's cute bedroom!

I LOVE them...I haven't done any sewing since Melody married for some reason. My last big project was I made her an apron for every holiday...Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, etc., plus just some for every day and a couple that were newlywed. It was SUCH a fun project. I gave them to her on one of her bridal showers. I haven't done curtains in years. But maybe it's time to sew something again. You've inspired me...I think Claire and Genn are lucky girls...I want to see them hanging up too. I will be watching for the post...Debbie

Those are absolutely adorable! I love them! I still have pieces of a quilt that was to be made for Riley by my Mother that is still just pieces pinned together. I believe she planned on it being done before Riley was born and I think Riley might be around two and a half now. Hmmmm, wonder what happened to that idea?
