HOT Dogs, Flowers & Ladybugs

I haven't accepted any cake orders for a few months. So this was a fun one to do. The Mommy that ordered these for her little girl's birthday saw my flowers, and wanted those. But she mentioned that her daughter liked ladybugs, so I placed a few randomly on the cupcakes for her. I didn't have my grandson Noah this week, so I really enjoyed spending the day baking and decorating these cuppies. I even had a surprise visit, and they came with lunch no less, from Genny and Jake and my girls. Sorry, no pics of the visit. But it was a nice break and Hannah sampled my cupcakes and gave me her approval.

I am a bit rusty with the pastry bag!!
I did the ladybugs using red M & M's and piped black buttercream dots and face. My hands felt huge working with such a tiny piece. The cupcakes are french vanilla with buttercream icing.
This is how Ducey has spent the past couple weeks with this awful heat! If I am in my bedroom, so is he. If I am in the kitchen, he is sprawled out on the cool brick floor. He is tired of these "DOG DAYS" of summer!!! And so am I.
Have a happy and SAFE Labor Day weekend everyone!

Those look great! They are so summery and cute. I love the little ladybugs too. Adorable.

Abbey has been doing a lot of the same laying around as Ducey. Poor dogs on these hot hot days.

The cupcakes are darling. I love the bright colored flowers and am trying to figure out how you did them. Thanks for sharing your tip on the ladybugs. What a great idea.

these are just adorable...such a talent...I've had a desire to do this kind of stuff just forever so at Christmas time I "attempted" to make some decorated Gingerbread cookies. Researched it out, bought all the necessary gear, and TRIED...haha Now, the cookies themselves were delicious and were quickly eaten, but oh my goodness, soooo fiddly, and time consuming, and I was sooo bad at it...haha Now I really do know the work that goes into these kinds of things. I guess I'll stick to buying this stuff from talented people who know what they are doing...
