Fifty IS Nifty!

I had a really fun birthday.  My phone began to ring at 6:30 in the morning, with my brother David calling to wish me a Happy Birthday.  Followed by my Mom, and two more brothers, and then just about every other person I know.  I had gifts delivered, and flowers from Greg.  Texts, emails, cards, balloons.  The day kept me smiling, and never once did I feel like 50 hurt.  Not even a little.
Gennifer ordered our dinner from one of my favorite places, The Twisted Gourmet, and Greg picked it up on his way home.  It was yummy and relaxing, sitting out on their patio for dinner.  Greg got me something I was really surprised to receive.  A Zoom lens for my Nikon.  It is so big, and so scary!!!  I will undoubtedly love it. But I am a little afraid to use it too!   Here is a shot I took with it from the other side of the yard.
Actually, I think that Gennifer was snapping most of these pictures.  I was still scared.
This banner was hanging in the family room.
I didn't get a picture of how pretty Gennifer had the bar all set up with the cake and black balloons.  It was so festive.
I certainly feel blessed.  I have so many special people in my life.  They all made Fifty Nifty for me!
And on another note.  I found this cute vintage brown beaded snap close purse at a new antique/vintage shop in town.  I wanted to use it for flowers.  These were given to me last night by Gennifer and Jake.  They also got me a new beautiful purse for my birthday.  But this is not it.  There in front is my little skinny fabric carrot I made the other day.
A funny thing happened this morning.  I opened the shutters, and there out of the corner of my eye, on the far edge of our lawn, was a bright purple toilet!!  WHAT!!!
I knew it had TRIF written all over it.  Trif is a friend of ours.  He and his wife Cheryl are good friends.  Another couple, who are dear friends, talked us into toilet papering their house one silly night last summer.  We did get found out, in the end, and that is why the sign on the purple potty says We got the TP you get the toilet.  Actually, it is a fundraiser for the youth group at their church.  They just "told" the leaders who to attack, er.....ask for donations from.  It was all in good fun. We called the church, and the purple potty is going home tomorrow, along with a donation from us to their youth group.  I do feel like I need to apologize to the neighbors though.
And lastly, two cutie patooties in the swing, and one of Noah blowing dandelions.  Claire didn't manage to get into the shots today.
Over and out.

I love that picture of Hannah and Noah on the swing! It's neat how you can see the bottoms of both their feet too.

Glad you had a fabulous birthday!!

That purple potty is soooo funny, I heard all about that!! I love your banner over at Genn's house, so sweet. Handmade stuff is always so fun to get!! Cute pics of the kids, and you are going to love your zoom. I love my zoom, I find that when I'm taking pics outside, no matter where I am, I just use that. I think it takes better pictures too, or maybe it's just easier for me. Enjoy it, and practice on those cute Grandkids of yours!!

Katie asks....does Noah look a little like Joe? He is a dead ringer for his uncle Joe.

The purple potty incident reminds me of the Pink Flamingo Dad & I had a few years ago. Remember???

Mom, I am glad you wrote that about Noah looking like Joe! I meant to send Katie a message back and forgot to. Yes, he does look a lot like Joe...but cousin Joe, not Uncle Joe.....I think that is what you meant. Yes, I remember the flamingos.....that was so fun. I remember lots of fun stuff like that. The Rams blanket. The tying on the avocados....flamingos.....the black crow.....so many things.

Hi Kris. Thanks for visiting my humble little blog. 50 with grandkids!?! You must have been a child bride! Looked at your profile to find your blog and see we have both read the Outlander series. I had a major literary crush on Jamie!

Your cakes and cookies are so pretty and creative. Love the thong cookies! OMGosh they are so clever! Love the use of silver dragees on the skates! I know how precious those little silver balls are in our state. Maybe you could help me come up with an idea for my nieces wedding cupcakes.

I'll be back too! :)

Kris, What a wonderful birthday celebration you had! And those cute grandbabies of yours... Aren't they the greatest gifts!

Listen,if I can help you out with those pillowcases let me know. I'd love to help get you going. Be warned. They're addicting. I've started and can't seem to stop.

Have a blessed Easter and take lots of pictures with that new lens of yours.

Happy 50th Kris!!! A bit belated. For some reason my reader has put all my new blog additions in a new section that I forget to check...I forget it's there. I need to see if someone can help me with that. Looks like you had wonderful day :) I hit the big 50 in November!
