Our neighbors Mike and Jane, have an annual pig roast on Memorial Day  Weekend.
The weather here has been unseasonably cool, but summer arrived today!  It was HOT!  Greg woke me up at 4:20 this morning, saying "Bunny, (he calls me Bunny) I smell smoke!"  We both popped out of bed. Well, I popped, he hobbled.  We first went out to the kitchen, and checked for fire, and then went outside.  There we were, in the pitch black, standing on the front lawn, looking up at the roof to see if we were on fire!  Then, suddenly, I remembered.  THE PIG ROAST!  I said, "I bet it's the fire next door for the pig roast."  Sure enough, we realized that is what the smoke and fire smell was from, and we went back to bed.  When we got up a few hours later, I wanted to go over and get some photos of the set up that they had back in the grove.
This is a family friend of The Moore's.  Jim got over to their house at 3:30 to start the fire for the pig.  They were having a good old time out there.

This was the roaring fire where they got the coals good and hot, and then scooped them to the rotisserie.  The pig cooked from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Here they are preparing the meat for dinner.
That's Mike on the left, our neighbor and host.  His son Daniel next to him. Dan and his wife Tricia had twins 10 days ago.  A boy and a girl.
Mike and Jane built a beautiful outdoor kitchen a couple of years ago.  It is the perfect setting for  the party.
There had to have been  200 or more people there.  It was such a great party.  We got to visit with old friends, and made some new.
Here is Maryrose and I with our friend Ruth.  We sure miss Ruth!

Greg and Daniel and our friend and neighbor Sue.

Greg thought he would only make it an hour or so.  But he lasted about 4! But now he is down for the count!

Hope you all have a safe and Happy Memorial Day.  Fly your flag!  Wear your red, white and blue!  Remember those who have fought, and those who are fighting now for our country's freedom!

Happy Memorial Day, you sure captured that pig, I wish I had brought my camera. Kevin and I were so happy to have seen you and Greg yesterday, that was a special treat. I really enjoyed Ruth and her husband too.
Great pig, great friends. Hope Greg isn't paying for his fun today. Are you spending the day with the kids and gkids today?

Wow, that is a good picture you got of the pig. I don't know if I'd be very hungry after I saw that though.

I'm with Genn, I've been to those pig roasts and seeing that pig being cooked didn't really give me an appetite, lol!!!

Great pics of the event though, it looks like so much fun! My Mom told me how great the Moore's yard is and how much fun she had. I have a feeling you and Greg had something to do with that!!
