Ruffled Bag

I was shopping a few weeks back at a shopping center near my house, and it happened to be Lady's Day, and they were giving these cute canvas bags out full of coupons and samples.  I got one for me, and one for each of my girls.  Mine has been sitting here, and today I decided to pretty it up.  This is the bag before I got busy on it.
And now it is a bag I would use!!
It would make a great way to give a little gift with goodies inside.
These ruffles are popping up everywhere.  They are easy to make, and it is a fun way to jazz up something plain.
I just used small leftover pieces of fabric.  I cut them 3 inches wide, and about 35 inches long for my project.  I turned each edge in 1/2 an inch and sewed, for a finished width of 2 inches.  You could leave them with a raw edge if you want, this is a popular look too.   Either sew a basting stitch down the length of the strip, and then pull bobbin thread to form ruffle.   Or set machine to widest stitch and zig zag down center over elastic cording, then pull ends to make ruffle as full as you like.  Then secure ends with straight stitch to prevent them from slipping.  So easy, and a fun look.  Now let's see, what else can I ruffle???
My Cath Kidston magazine came today.  Can't wait to look at it.  It was a scorching 108 here today.  Then clouds and stormy weather blew in this afternoon.  Now it is a steamy 100.  UGH!!!
Til next time....Happy Hot and Steamy Hump Day to you.

Erika,
Now that I am thinking about it, I just gave you and Gennifer the coupons, and gave the cute little pink bags to Hannah and Claire.
