A Birthday...A Shout Out, & Ebay....Hey

Today is a special day!!  TWENTY TWO years ago today, we had our little boy!!  This is Drew, who, at 6'5" is not little in any way, any more!!
This is Drew with his beautiful girlfriend Diana, and our cute little granddaughter Hannah, taken last July 4th at my Mom's house.  Drew has requested STEAK for his birthday dinner tonight.   So in a little while, Noah and I will go see what looks good at Sam's for our Steak BBQ Birthday party here at our house later today.  Happy-Happy Birthday Drew!  We love you so much!!!
Yesterday....I received another blog award from this nice lady...   Blogger Janna over at TooCoolForMyMiniVan.  Janna has a busy life, with two active kids and she visits me from daughter Gennifer's blog at
Life In The Hass House.  I did write to Janna and thank her for her kind gesture, but explained that instead of receiving blog awards, I would rather from time to time give a Shout Out to another blog, or blogs that have in some way inspired me.  So Janna, thank you so much. I am so happy that you enjoy visiting my blog, and that it inspires you in some way.  Makes her hungry is what I think!  Go on over and visit Janna and say hi. She is joining in with Pleated Poppy and all the other gals doing the WIWW posts.  And while you are at it....go check out my oldest daughter Gennifer, in above link, Life In The Hass Home. She is the fashion diva of our family. She has posted some great fashion looks with her WIWW posts.  And, I could be partial, but she has two of the prettiest little girls on the face of the earth too.  For more fun, go see my middle daughter Erika at
Flip Flops & Sippy Cups    She is Mama to the handsome Noah, who is my sidekick on the weekdays.  One more blog mention today.  This is a blog that I discovered from a friend of mine who told me about this courageous lady from her church who is battling Lou Gehrig's disease.  She started a blog so that others dealing with this might find some comfort in knowing what to expect, and also to keep her family and friends posted on her condition.  As time went on, her daughter Lisa took over the postings of this blog.  I do not know this lady, and I only heard about her through my friend.  I have been reading along, and been struck by the many similarities in our two families.  And although losing my Dad to cancer 7 years ago, was a different journey altogether, it was a story similar in so many ways.  The love story that this lady, Caroline shared with her husband.  So sweet, so tender, so like my Mom and Dad.   The deep bond between the siblings, one girl, three boys, just like my family.  The love and care and deep commitment that this family shared, was just so heart warming.  Lisa, her daughter, wrote with such love and compassion, that so many times, I read her posts with tears running down my face.  Yet, the sadness was softened with such a sense of peace, because of their faith.  Caroline knew where she was going.  And that brought her peace.  I read this morning that Caroline, only a few years older than me, lost her courageous battle with LG disease last night.  I cried.  So yes, this is a sad story, but at the same time, it is a love story.  My heart goes out to her family.  I wish I had known her.  She was certainly an inspiration to all who knew her.  Reading her story, has made me wonder so many times....what imprint am I leaving on my children's lives?  On my grandchildren's lives?  I hope that when they think of me, they will say I made a difference.  Do you make a difference in someone's life?  It is what we all want, I think.    Here is her story.

  1.  Lastly for today, I want to encourage any of you who may have wondered what Ebay was all about, to give it a try.  I sold a bunch of my son's Nintendo games several years ago, and earned him some mad money.  I had forgotten all about having a membership, until a friend mentioned that she was an Ebay gal.  I got myself back up on Ebay and made TWO sales this week!  I am watching my PayPal account grow and grow.  It is fun, it is easy, and you too can earn a little mad money on the side, right from home!
I will be back tomorrow with birthday pictures.  Have a GREAT day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your son! What a handsome guy he is. = ) I didn't know your other daughter did a blog too...I am excited to check it out. I love Genn's...I know what you mean about getting soo emotionally involved with the women whose blogs I follow. I have a couple too that I have just cried myself sick over. And how they have inspired me as well. And those who make me laugh every time I go and those who I just click with, you know? I LOVE your blog if I haven't told you that recently. Warm, loving, and soo full of yummy recipes and creative projects. One of my fav's for sure. I will pray for your friends family today. A sad story. But glad she knows where she will be spending her eternity. Have a good day!

I know someone else with that disease...I will have to tell her about that blog. Something else..I am on a jury right now and have gone to eat at a place by the Mission Inn a few times and realized the author to those Hungy Girl recipe books is one of the chefs or owners there. Didn't you blog about those books a time or two?
