Rock Creek Camping Trip

Good Monday morning!  We have returned from our trip.   It was hard coming from the nice cool temperatures of the Sierra's, to the hot smog of the Inland Empire!!  We had a good time.   I took hundreds of pictures.  The beauty of that place is hard to describe.  You must see it.  Here are some highlights.  The first afternoon we got there, we went down to the lake for some fishing.  It was windy and COLD!  That's our friend Ron out there in the float tube.   I was told that the dock you see under water, is usually on shore!

Cheryl put her waders on and gave it a go.  Maryrose also had her waders on and fished in the water.  But then we gave up and sat on a dock and waited for the rest to call it a day.

Our camp site was not very level and our fridge was not working.  We were lucky enough to get to move across the road, right next to the babbling brook.   We were under the shade of beautiful pines, with views of the canyons on both sides, and the rushing water just steps away.  It was beautiful.
The day time temps were in the 70's and the nights were way down into the 30's!!    The water in Ron's float tube even froze one night.  Brrrrr.  It was so nice to hear the rushing water in the creek at night.  Greg had a lot of fun fishing the creek.  One day, I spent a couple of hours just following him along the creek taking photos.  It was beautiful!

Ta Da!
While he was fishing, I took some pictures of other things, besides the brook, that struck me.  Like these giant trees.
I arranged these cute pinecones near the river bank.
Flowers near the waters edge.
We had wonderful meals, taking turns at each others camp sites for dinner.   With big roaring fires and roasted marshmallow s'mores.
I didn't have my camera on me a lot of the time when we were at our friends camps, so I don't have pictures from all the meals we had.  But believe me, we ate GOOD!!!  And way too much!!!!  One day, everyone went on a long hike.  Everyone except me, and Ron that is.  Ron spent the day fishing at Mammoth, and I spent the day in my zero gravity chair, reading, relaxing and crocheting.  I didn't take the hike because I knew with my bad knee, if I did, I would be in trouble!

My Mom's cabin afghan is almost done!
Tomorrow I will try to post some of the photos Greg took.  I will end with a photo from our last night there, and then a couple we took on our way out yesterday morning.
Bet you can't guess which hand is mine!!!  Ha ha....just look for the spots!!!
I took this just as we turned out of the camp ground.  BEAUTIFUL!
We stopped at the Rock Creek lodge "Pie In The Sky" for a t-shirt, and we were off for home.
We made good time, and all was okay at home. Except that our one little chicken that I had separated from the rest before leaving, had died.  The others look great, with no signs of illness.  I am keeping my fingers crossed!  No more new chicks until next spring when I know that these have flourished.
See you tomorrow with more pictures from our trip.  I will be looking forward to catching up with all of my favorite blogs in the next few days.

That looks relaxing! I'd have forgone the hike too, but moreso because I'm lazy and would rather sit and crochet :)

We flew over the Sierras last week and still saw quite a bit of snow. Looks like you had a great time in a lovely spot.

Cheers to a fabulous weekend. I really am jealous of all the fun you had. I would give anything to be in the mountains, by a stream, fishing for dinner and tipping a glass of vino with you. Wonderful pictures. Can't wait to see more.

It is so gorgeous up there. We have caught many fish downstream in another campground. Warmer but not as pretty as on the lake. You look cute in your little boots. Gonna take mine camping too as it gets cool at night up there.

Kris, what awesome pictures you got! Makes me so excited to go. We are meeting my Mom and Dad up there middle of July and I can't wait. It's been 4 years almost exactly since I've been up there last, when I was preggo with Riley!

Looks like you guys had a great time, your group of friends that went up is the perfect group! Glad you had so much fun, love that picture of the flower by the water!

Sorry to hear about your chicks, so sad. Hoping it gets better!

Hi Kris, Don't you just love the Sierra's?!! We do, in fact one of my honey's favorite places is Lake Tahoe. I'm not sure where you were but it looks great. I remember when we camped at Lake Tahoe and there were bears in the area-and we tent camp....I was a tad scared. BTW, what happened to your hand and wrist that left you spots?
Glad you are back!
Hugs, Noreen

What a lovely spot to camp... and being with dear ones makes it even lovelier. I am glad that you all had such a good time.... and ate well.. even fresh fish..yum yum

Every year, for the past 15 years our family joins together and camps on the banks of the of the Snake river near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It is beautiful there. We own a raft and 15 of us at a time pile into it and go a few miles down the river, white water rafting. It is so much fun. I will really miss it this year. With 15 broken ribs, I don't think I will be making the trip. This year I can't even camp but there is always next year... I hope!

Welcome home. I'll look forward to seeing more of your pictures.
Hugs, Lura

Wow, these photos are gorgeous! What a beautiful place to camp!

We are taking our camper out this weekend. I'm so excited. We've never camped as a family of 3. We attend the Nascar races, and so that is the only time we've used it so far. Your post here gets me really excited for our weekend!
