Poor Mr. G!

My poor husband!  It has been a little over a year now since his trip to Mexico where he was given a shot into his femoral nerve in his left leg.  The shot was supposed to be for pain he was having while passing a kidney stone.  But it was incorrectly administered into a nerve.  He has been in pain since.  He manages the pain with medications, but he is always in pain, and his activity level has changed drastically.
Greg has played on a mens slow pitch softball team for years.  During the past year, he sat out most of it, and recently began pitching again and then when he gets on base, they call a pinch runner in for him.  Well, somehow in his game on Wednesday, he took a tumble and racked up his right knee pretty bad.  Then later in the game, on a gimpy knee, he took another tumble, this time badly spraining, (or breaking) his right hand!   He limped through the door very slowly last night, and went straight to bed.  I brought him ice and then wrapped his knee and hand for him.  He looks so pititful here.  When I took this picture, he said, "that better not be going on your blog."  I said, of course it is.  He then said, "then you better at least tell them we won the game!"  GUYS!!!!
See that dust on my shelf above bed?  Trust me, that is not usually ever there!!!  We recently tried out a housecleaning service that has been a huge disappointment!  We got home from vacation and it was all I could do to just leave it, knowing they were coming this week.  Well, they no showed!!  Oh well.  I knew I wouldn't be  happy with anyone cleaning my house.  I am too particular.  I keep my house clean.  We just thought it would be a help temporarily while we have a full house for a few months.  I am still thinking about trying out someone else.  The only room I didn't get to yet is my bedroom.  So if you have an eagle eye, disregard that dust.  It is gone now anyway!!!
Now, I have to share something that I discovered recently.  I am not usually a big fan of Wendy's.  I don't know why.  But we drove through there one night before vacation, and I got this salad and it was AMAZING!
I think it is called Berry Almond Chicken Salad.  It comes in two sizes, small and large.  I get the large....of course.  It has a full chicken breast sliced on top.  Fresh strawberries and blueberries.  Slivered almonds, and comes with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing.   DELICIOUS!!!  I have had it several times now, and it is excellent!!  The only bad thing is......it will be gone soon.  It is just a summer menu item.  I may be eating it every day until it disappears.
Yesterday was disgustingly hot.  I picked Noah up from school and we went to Target.  The temperature when I pulled into the lot was 108!!!!  UGH!!!!   We lolligagged around in the nice cool air for as long as we could.  When we went home it had dropped down to 103.  More of the same for today.  Not much cooking going on in my house.  Last night when I put the chickens to bed, the sky was so pretty.  I snapped this but it didn't do it justice.
Today there are a lot more clouds in the sky, which means a lot more moisture in the air.  I don't know how you folks do it where the humidity is so high.
I am so happy it is Friday!  We are going to Ventura this weekend to watch our daughter Erika and niece Jessica run a half marathon.  Greg's sister Glenda and her son Todd are coming too.  We are really excited to see them and catch up with one another.  Hoping it may be a few degrees cooler there too.
Stay cool out there!!!

Poor man looks in desperate need of TLC. Let the dust go for now!

I've always been happiest with one person cleaning my house (not me) and have been fortunate to have a young woman who has been doing that for almost four years now. Unless I want her to do something different, she just gets to work and is very fastidious. Good luck!

Best,
Bonnie

We would have assumed Mr. G. and his team won anyway :)
Those shots where the trees are silhouettes are my favorite. It's been pretty humid here, which kills me - I don't deal well with it at all. I'd like to say at least we're getting rain this weekend but that rain is part of a hurricane so I'm hoping it doesn't get too windy.

Sorry Mr. G, but if he keeps that icepack where he has it now, it is going to cause more problems. LOL
I love that Wendys salad also. Probably a good choice to eat everyday. Not sure what the calories are like. I am so glad we are in the 70's here. I hate the heat and humidity:(

Oh Dawn...I just KNEW someone would have a funny to say about the location of the icepack. It was simply set aside for a moment while I wrapped the poor ailing extremities in mention!!! Not to worry!!!! It only LOOKS like it is...uh...where it is.

Yup, I noticed the ice pack right away too. You're not surprised, right? Poor baby boy! I feel terrible for him. Moral of the story? Never get medical attention in Mexico? That salad does look good. I haven't been to a Wendy's in ages. Wish I were there to see Erika run. Proud of that girl.

Hi there, Your poor hubby-hopefully the pain for both injuries will ease soon. Advil-have you bought stock in it yet?lol. I didn't see the dust in your room but I can understand how disappointed it would be-maybe you need to point out everything you expect to be done, that way they have no excuses. Have a great weekend. Poor Dad!! I didn't know about that because Jake missed the game since I worked late. Poor guy. A rough go. Good thing you are such a good nurse!

I didn't know you guys were going to Ventura this weekend. That should be fun.

Greg is a trooper! I hope things improve for him soon.

It's been hot here too...116 in the day and I went outside at 10 last night and it was still 104. We just can't cool off!!! A little rain would be nice.

I have had that salad at Wendys and I love it. Glad you discovered it too.

Poor Greg! It sounds like you are taking good care of him though and being a good wife. Thanks for the tip on the Wendy's salad. I never go there because I don't care for it either, except their chili sometimes in winter.

You definitely should find someone to clean for you. I swear, it is worth every single penny once you find someone you can depend on. It may take a while, but you will find someone. Keep trying!

Oh, I hope your husband is feeling lots better! I get the same from my husband...."this can't go on your blog". haha. Tell your hubby he is getting a lot of sympathy from us!!! :))

I've had that berry almond salad. I did love it, although my chicken may not have been too fresh. I love berries in a salad. yum.

Oh your poor hubby....hope he heals up quickly! Yes, someone else cleaning your house when you are particular is NOT easy. Nina was sooo good..and I am convinced now there is NO ONE like her. She did things I never thought of even in my most "anal" moods, haha...My new "guys" are good MOST times, but have their times when they are only OK...I have just learned to roll with it. But there is nothing more annoying than an a NO SHOW...sigh. Sounds like it has been quite hot at home. It has been over a 100 every day here...it was 113 in Lubbock Texas...and humid....don't know how they bear it. Hope you have a fun week-end!
