Hello New Week

Here we are at the beginning of another new week.  Mid October again, and it happened.  I realized that Christmas is only 2 1/2 months away.  I always have such good intentions of starting on my Christmas buying and sewing early, and then wham, it happens.  Mid October, and I haven't even started.  I will be getting my Etsy shop back up and running soon, and I am working on several gifts right now too.   Tonight though, I worked on a project for my daughter Erika.  She had some baskets that she wanted to paint black, and then have some liners made with fabric.  She picked out a pretty leopard print and brought it home to show me.  Then painted all of her baskets black, and tonight I got busy making liners.  I was just going to do one, but then I couldn't stop.  So I did all three, and she wants me to do one more in a companion fabric.    She bought one yard, and I thought that was going to be plenty.  I made the first liner exactly like the liner she had in it.  Making one piece for the bottom, which is sewed to 4 sides, then turning the top down.  But the baskets were all different shapes, so I made the other two differently, with less fabric cuts.  They all turned out cute.
This is the inside of the first one I did, making it just like the liner that was in it previously.
I ran a black sheer ribbon through the casing at the top, but she is going to look for a black lace to use.  I just wanted her to be able to see how it would look all done.
I love the fabric against the black baskets.  She has a neutral/tan sectional, and we are going to make some large leopard print pillows in a slightly different fabric.  Now she wants to learn to sew too, and says Joann's is her new favorite store!!!  Go figure!  I never thought  I would those words from her!!
In other news, I got a fun package in the mail the other day from my friend Dawn who blogs at
Dawn lives "out in the stix" as she says, in a log cabin that she and her husband and son built.  She does a lot of great furniture remakes, and participates in What I Wore Wednesdays and has more shoes than anyone I know!   I often wonder where she goes in all those cute shoes if she lives in the stix.  Dawn does a fair bit of sewing herself, and I was admiring her pretty yellow ruffled scarf recently in her WIWW post and look what she sent me!!
I can't wait to wear it.  But it probably won't be this week, as we are heading back into the triple digits I hear.  But I do love it, and know I will be wearing it a lot.  THANK YOU Dawn!!!
Yesterday afternoon Mr. G and I went to have a bite to eat at Panera and then walked across the way to see A Dolphin Tale.  What a great movie!  We both thoroughly enjoyed it.  It had a good cast, with Harry Connick Jr., Chris Kristofferson, Ashley Judd, and a couple of cute freckle faced kids that will make you smile, and cry, and clap at the end.  Go see it!
Here's to a great week everyone!

Love that scarf! I imagine that will be a favorite through the fall. I made some leopard print basket liners too. I don't know why I am so drawn to animal prints...just can't get enough.

Good Moring Puddin Cup! Love the scarf, it's so you. You look great in yellow! I'll have to check out the blog. The baskets turned out so cute, if you lived closer I'd give you the ones I'm getting rid of. I have baskets in every room of my house for sorting and keeping things organized. Glad you enjoyed the movie.

Loved the baskets, the scarf, and the movie! Did you tie the liners on with the ribbon, or did you use elastic??

Hi Kris, Love seeing the basket liners-so very chic. Christmas, really? We give our kid memberships to the zoo etc so it is easy and covers all the grands-when you have 9 it can get costly.
Such a pretty scarf for you-I know yellow looks beautiful on you.
Have a great afternoon.

I love that you could whip out your sewing machine and make those liners. I swear I have to learn to sew. I already have a machine but I just literally know nothing about it. You are so full of energy. I am still doing nothing and it is almost 10. I feel guilty but it has been a busy week and I am just hanging out. Okay off to the shower.

Hi Kris,

Those basket liners are so cute! I hope you'll show the pillows too.

I'm not sure why the e-mail wouldn't open--sorry about that! I was just answering to your comment on my blog about tea. I'm not English, but do love all things British! Your neighbor sounds so nice. How lucky to have a friend to share teatime with.
