Mid Week Musings

Good Wednesday morning to you!  I woke up to a beautiful foggy morning in my neck of the woods.  In fact, when I got out of bed and slipped into my slippers that were next to the open sliding door, I was certain that they were wet!  They weren't really wet, but there was a lot of moisture in the air last night, and they felt damp.
That certainly looks like Fall to me!!
Are you a coffee lover?  I sure am!!  I look so forward to my morning coffee every day.  And in the cooler months, I often enjoy a mid day jolt too.  Typically I don't care for my coffee sweet.  But I love the Pumpkin Spice creamer that is only available during this time of year!  It is the only sweetened creamer I like.  Thank you Erika!
It is especially enjoyable in my favorite La Fonda mug from Santa Fe New Mexico!!
I have been sewing every day.  Trying to get my Etsy shop back up for the holidays.  I had a special order Bloomie for a customer in the shop where my daughter works.  She wanted a Fall color to wear to wedding coming up.
The color is just yummy.  Sort of a pumpkin spice.  Now I need to make a special order in a smaller version in a teal color.  And one in cream, also for a customer at the salon.
Since making the mock up version of my ipad case, I have been using it every day.  I decided it needed two things.  A proper closure, and a lining.  Since I was just messing around, with no plan in mind, I didn't make mine with a liner.  But if I put them in my Etsy shop, they will of course all be lined.  But I had to make mine sort of backwards since I had already constructed the bag.  It is fine for me, and the additional quilted lining provides the right amount of padding for this case.  I used one of my old funky vintage buttons and made a closure for the bag too.  Now I love it!
Note the burn on the inside of my wrist!  I did that the other night with my hot glue gun while making Bloomies.  Ouch!!
The inside of the bag, which is the opposite side of the quilted fabric I used to make this.

There is another nice shot of the burn, along with my spotty hands!  I purchased this fabric recently at The Goodwill.  It is one yard of quilted, fabric.  I paid 1 dollar.  So I made this ipad carrying case for pennies.  And my time.
I also sort of redid a small Fall table topper quilt.  It was actually at Gennifer's house.  She had it displayed, and I recently saw it and said YUCK!!!!  Take that ugly thing down!  I made this about 10 years ago, and the topper itself, I loved.   I made two actually.  I loved the Thimbleberries fabric I used, but I have always hated the ugly prim turkey applique that was front and center on this piece.  So I took it home, and did what I could to get rid of it!  The quilt was already bound and quilted, so removing the turkey was not easy.  I took apart the entire area.  I wanted to remove the pumpkins too, since I have come a long way in my blanket stitch since that time, but I couldn't without ruining the whole thing.  So I removed the turkey and all the stitching in that area, then added a simple pumpkin applique and restitched the diagonal lines of the quilt.  I need to put a blanket stitch on the pumpkin now.   So it was sort of saved.
The pumpkin in the lower right is the one I added.  The candle holder the pumpkin is on, also a Goodwill find.  1 dollar.
Next up, I had a couple of charm packs sitting in my sewing room.  One had already been opened and used for a zipper bag I made.  So I just sewed the squares randomly together, and will make a small table topper.
I forgot what the fabric line was called.  It is soft florals.  The only room in my house with soft florals is my sewing room.  I am backing it with this Moda print.
The colors are so pretty and feminine!  It is all sandwiched and ready to go.   Along with two other lap quilts I have ready to go that just need backing and bat.  Guess I will be busy in my sewing room from now until after the holidays.  So what are YOU working on?

I'm embarrassed to say I haven't worked on anything - this cold is really kicking my butt! But your pictures have inspired me to get to SOMEthing tonight. That iPad case is the cutest - I love the red and yellow!
My personal favorite is the Peppermint Mocha creamer--perfect for Christmas!

Holy cow! You have been busy. We have matching burns! Remember mine from Ree's pot roast? We're practically twins. So excited for you that the Etsy shop is making a come back. I would love to find something to make that is good enough to sell. I'll figure it out. It was so nice to hear your sweet voice on the phone yesterday, you always brighten my days!

Kris! You are so talented. I cannot keep up. I don't even have a sewing machine. I can sew what I have to by hand but I try to avoid that!
Lookin' good, girlfriend!

You have fog, we have rain and cold. I love coffee but quit drinking anything but water about 13 years ago, but the pumpkin creamer sounds heavenly:) I think your ipad will have better protection with the quilted liner, you will probably be glad you did that. Your runner for the craft room is darling, I love the vintage feel the fabric has. I am in lust with it. Your flower pins are beautiful, sorry for the burn while making them:( Can't wait for you to open your Etsy store again:)

I love those bloomies, and yes that color is quite yummy. Mel LOVES that creamer too as would I if I could drink coffee...I never have stopped missing it. : ( I am loving the fog and cooler temps...soo tired of heat. I have burnt myself more than once with those hot glue guns...soo not good. I love the quilt topper..the colors are great. You know I have seen those packs. I have always wondered how they are put together...Are there any instructions in there? How difficult is it? Learning to quilt is still on my bucket list. You have been soo busy. Just jammie making so far on my list over here.

Not sure what a bloomie is...but it sure is pretty! Is it for your hair? Genn had such a cute flower headband in her post today from Target. I'm wondering if I could wear that...not sure my 41 year old self could pull it off!

We are SO on the same page with a lot of things. First of all, I LOVE your blog header! And all things pumpkin-y and fall-ish. Love coffee. I haven't gotten that creamer yet (wish they would make a nonfat or sugar-free version) but am drinking pumpkin spice coffee. Yum.

I think I had some of that fabric in the last picture. Maybe April Cornell? Sonnet? I don't know--something like that...

Great Ipad carrier - I need one now that I have an Ipad! I am like the Pam above about sewing - patterns terrify me too! I am going to cut out a pattern for an apron today though. You are sure creative and an inspiration! Have a great weekend, especially if you go to the lake.
