Crochet Santa Face

I have had a few requests on how to make the crochet Santa Faces seen on earlier posts.  He is hanging on my Christmas trees.

  • Face:
Using a light pink yarn, chain 4, sl st into 1st st to make ring.  Ch 3, work 12 dc into circle, counting turning chain as 1 dc.  Join to top of ch 3 with sl st.  Cut yarn and secure end.
Attach white yarn at point where circle was completed.  Ch 3, make 1 dc into same st.  Then make 2 dc into each st around pink circle, join, cut and secure end of yarn (26 dc counting turning ch as 1 dc)
    Cap:
With sl st on hook, join red yarn in any st.  Ch 3, work 1 dc into next 3 sts, then 2 dc into next 2 sts, then 1 dc into next 4 sts.  (Total of 12 dc, counting turning ch as 1 dc.)
Ch 1, turn.  Dec 1 st over next 2 sts, sc into next 8 sts, dec 1 st at end of row, in last dc and turning ch (10 sts.)
Ch 1, turn.  Dec 1 st over 2 sts, sc in remaining 8 sts to end of row.  At this point sc 3 sts down side of cap, bringing yarn to point where red and white yarn meet.  Ch 2, turn.  Sc in both sts, then sc across top of cap to last 3 sts.  Sl st into each of these 3 sts.  End off red.
Note:  The two sts that you ch where red and white yearn meet will make the tab on which the pom pom is sewn. Also, this side of the cap will turn down.
Row 1:  Attach white yarn in first white st at outside row of beard See diagram 1  * Ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook (picot made), sc into next st.  Repeat from * around the outside edge of face.  Cut and secure yarn.
Row 2:  The middle row of the beard will be crocheted into the sts of the white yarn.  ( See Diagram 1)  Secure yarn under dec near point where outer row of beard begins.  (See diagram 2.)  Make picot as in row 1 on each of the dcs until you reach the other side of the face.  Cut and secure yarn.
Row 3:  Inside row of beard.  Secure white yarn under 3rd dc from center of cap in the pink circle.  Make picots on each of the dc until you reach the 3rd dc from the center on the other side.  (see diagrams 1 and 2)
Eyes:  Using 6 srands of floss doubled, make eyes using french knots, wrapping floss around the needle 4 times.  ( See diagram 3.)
Nose:  Using one strand of red yarn, make nose using a french knot, wrapping yarn around needle 1 time.
Sew pom pom to cap, and sew a saftey pin the back of cap or crochet a loop on the top of cap using red yarn to hang.

Speaking of Santa...how do you like my Christmas Socks?  I love these.  My Mom got me these slippers a couple of years ago.  They are so cozy.
    XO  Kris

Great minds think alike, don't they. I see you have a Sweet Spot too. This might have to be done for the other Sweet Spot, I just found. Thanks for the pattern, Sweet Kris. You got it, I'm hanging out just like you today. But, I need some of those socks. Seriously, I was minding my own Bee's Wax and there you go, having me google to find something so cute.

Thank you so much for the Santa face pattern! I've looked for it for ages and will for sure be making some. I'm also going to make some of your cute Santa socks but I'm wondering what yarn you used for the fluffy white tops! Thank you for your help!

Obviously I like your web site, but you have to take a look at the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very bothersome to inform you. Nevertheless I will surely come again again! my christmas celebration essay
