Vintage Thrift Finds

Brrrrr, it's cold here in So. California!  Yesterday it rained all day. It was so nice.  I got to use my bun and back warmers in my car.  Oh my....what have I been missing all of these years?  Do you have them?  Do you love them?  I did not want to get out of my car after picking Noah up from school in the pouring rain!
After dropping Noah in the morning, I ran into one of my favorite thrifts.  I am on the hunt for something.  I didn't find what I was looking for, but I did come home with a few things.  I spent less than 3 dollars!
They had boxes and boxes of Christmas stuff.  I found this large ziplock bag with tons of vintage Christmas tags and labels.  There were even a couple of hand painted vintage cards.
These darling vintage Santa buttons.  I need to take a better picture, so you can see how cute the face is.  Sorry for the bad picture.  The lighting is very bad today.
Also a cute red and white snowflake cup, eggs were courtesy of my girls.  And a very old Santa face mug.  Oh, and the white wicker sleigh the tags are sitting in too.  I am thinking it may get a coat of red paint.
When I got home  I found some really special things in my mail box.
Those dishcloths were knitted for me by my friend Jeanne.  Jeanne is in my Brunch Bunch Group.  I have belonged to an online cooking group for 20 years.  We are a group of about 10 women, who live all over the United States.  What brought us together was one thing we all have in common.  The love of cooking.  However, over the years, deep friendships have formed between us, and in addition to our love of cooking, we have shared our lives.  We have seen one another through the happiest events of our lives, like weddings and births, and through terrible sadness too.  We have lost one of our members to cancer, and we have supported one another through everything from ordinary to extraordinary.  We have a caterer, an Inn Keeper,a food editor for a newspaper, a nurse, a business owner, an executive with a large name Toy Company, and a few of us are homemakers who simply love food, and everything about it.  We are in California, Louisiana, Michigan, Maine, New Jersey, Arizona, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Delaware.  Many, actually, most of  us have met in person.  These women are very near and dear to my heart. When I received this package from Jeanne yesterday, I was struck with just how meaningful this group of ladies has been in my life.  That doesn't even count the incredible fountain of knowledge we have shared with each other about cooking over the years.  We are called The Brunch Bunch Kitchen.  Or BBK for short.  Isn't the internet an amazing thing????
Some Holiday Bloomie colors.  Snow, Cream, Holiday Red, Holly, Brick, Mustard and Basic Black that goes with everything.  Picture taken without a flash.
With a flash.  Lighting is bad today.  Very dark outside.
My favorites?  Oh, the Holiday Red is so, so pretty.  The Snow White is really nice.  Mustard continues to be one of my best sellers.  Martini, which I don't have pictured here, but do have pictured in a previous recent post that sold with a Cowl, is also a big seller.  I have more cut, but not made yet.  In addition to these Holiday colors, I have Brown, Heather Gray, Textured Gray, Yellow, Tan which I call Beach, and Blue Jean.  I still have in stock Shabby Chic, and several summer colors too.
In my Cowls, right now I have in stock, an ecru in the longer style that covers more of the shoulders and lays lower on front.  And my new style like the red one pictured in previous post, I have Red, and a beautiful shade of charcoal.  I am working on a rust, and another tweed.  I will only be taking Holiday orders for the rest of this week.
I am going to have my hair done today.  That always makes me feel better!  Have a great day, and drive safe.  It's getting crazy out there!!!
XO  Kris

What great stuff!! Ten years ago I would have called that stuff 'old' and walked on by. Now that I appreciate vintage I'd have snagged those too! And we used to have Santa mugs just like that! I think we still do, actually...
And that red and white snowflake mug might be my favorite :)

I love the special mail that you got and the story of your cooking group. The internet is an amazing tool that allows for us to make friends with people ANYWHERE that share our interests and it can answer any question you have.

Five years ago, I would have thought a person crazy is they had told me I'd be forming deep and dear friendships online! I still find it amazing with each new person I meet online and especially wonderful when I meet some in person.

Too bad you couldn't go to our local Goodwill today. I just dropped off a bunch of really good "stuff" simply because I was tired of it and needed to make room for more "stuff".

The flowers are gorgeous!!

Yes, I use my seat warmers all the time. My first Volvo had them. It was purchased in Charleston, S.C. and I never used it. Now, it's soooo nice.

Best,
Bonnie

Great find on the vintage tags! All the bloomies are great colors, are you selling out fast? If I use the heated seat in my car, it makes me feel like I peed my pants. LOL
I think the white Santa cup if very old, you should research it. What if you tied a bright rid bow onto the sleigh, for a pop of color.

Well, sweet Kris. I pretty much have may back and bun warmer on full time here from Sept to May. Are they not the greatest. What great find you have found today. I just find the vintage stuff so much more fun that what on the shelves at the store. And those bloomies are fabulous. Finally, wrapping up the 80yrs. tribute, so I can get back to some normalcy, if there is such a thing around here...lol.... Glad the card arrived. What was I thinkn'?

Don't you just love seat warmers! My car has them and in the winter I love them because they heat up so quickly. What a wonderful group you've been part of Kris-but no wonder because I think anyone who knows you would want you close to them. Love your bloomies as ever and your thrift store finds are incredible!!!
Have a great evening in front of the fire.
Hugs, Noreen

The first time I experienced a seat warmer was in my dad's car several years ago. I was taking a turn driving and it came on automatically. I couldn't figure out what was going on! It gets really cold here in the winter, but alas no seat warmers in my car.

What a fun gift to get in the mail from your BBK friend! It really is crazy how you ladies have all formed such great friendships through that group. The internet is a crazy thing.
Your bloomies are so pretty!! I love the new size too. I think I might keep one of the red ones for myself and gift another something to one of the people I needed it for! ;)

I have a collection of the santa face mugs. I love them. What a fun group your BBK is, and yes, the internet is wonderful! I love how close you all are, living so far apart. Sometimes when I mention a "blog friend" I stop and say, no they are a real friend....because I truly feel that way. Hope your day is going well!
