Beautiful Night Sky

Last night at dusk, I went out to put the chickens back into the coop for the night.  I was immediately struck with how beautiful the sky was.  I stood for a minute looking up and admiring it.  And then I ran as fast as I could back into the house to get my camera to capture the beauty.  I was so busy today, that I didn't look at those photos until just now.  Pictures never seem to do justice to what your naked eye sees.  But I was pleasantly surprised with these.
This first one was looking North, on the side yard over where the coop is.
As I walked around to the front of the house, the sky just kept turning deeper shades of pink.
I love the silhouette of the big sycamore trees in our front yard, with just a few parched leaves left dangling on their near barren branches.
The large dark conical shaped thing in the tree closest in the photo is a giant parasite.  Do you know what it is?  Mistletoe.  We never got it cut down before Christmas.
The palm trees that you can see over the roof tops are in the backyard around our pool.  I do not love them.  In fact, I despise them.  Only because they shade my pool, and keep it from being as warm as I would like it to be.  And they are messy and always need trimming.   But they are pretty to look at.
Somebody was watching me through the window.  Do you see him?
There is something about seeing a house that is illuminated by the soft glow of lights that feels so homey to me.
It was such a pretty night to be outside last night!
And then I went inside and steamed a head of broccoli to add to the potato cheese soup I had left over from the night before.  I like it best on the second night.  The flavors are more intense, and we love it with steamed broccoli added to it.
Life is good!
XO  Kris

Ok, soooo... you know when you grow up in a great house and then you move away as an adult, maybe across the country and then one day you get back to your hometown and drive past that house again and feel all nostagic and you see the lights on inside and it makes you feel all warm and cozy? Well, that's how I feel looking at your house. I want to come home!!!

Yes, sweet friend, Life is Good! Love the sky pictures. The colors are beautiful. I love seeing the mistletoe in trees. It's all over in the cedar trees here in Texas. Your home is so pretty. I know exactly what you mean about seeing the lights on inside a home and it looks so cozy. When I go down to my mom's, our favorite thing to do at night is to get in their golf cart and drive around the course and peek inside everyone's homes. I love it! Have a good day!

ps. Kevin is in San Antoio for the rest of the week, but I'm making your chuck roast w/ garlic and pepperoncinis for when he comes home. I can't wait to eat it. :)

My favorite kind of sky at my favorite time of day. It was always the coziest time, it seemed, when everything was right with the world. Lucky girl to capture it all :)

So beautiful...what a lovely home and it looks warm there! I wish it was here...snow still on the ground and starting to melt....what a mucky mess.

Kris it is almost spooky how similar our houses are when looking in. From the white shutters to the roosters and the colors. Whooeee-whoooeee! My daughter and I were walking and commented on how gorgeous that sunset was too. Probably at the same time you were snapping away photos.

Hi Kris, I loved seeing your sunset-so beautiful! Sounds like you had a delightful afternoon and evening. As for books, who has time to read with all the blogs we read-seriously, I spend a good portion of my day in blogland.

Hi Kris, I noticed our pretty sunset last night, too. I also dislike palms esp. fan palms. They ARE messy and when the fronds come down they are heavy and can scratch, dent or wreck whatever they fall on. They always look nice in other peoples yards when they're trimmed and taken care of. The rain was soooo nice. It's been a gorgeous couple of days and oh, how I wanted to go play in the dirt (garden) instead of work. I agree Life is GOOD. Take care you busy gal, you!

I'll say life is good, and there's no placed like home. Interesting about that being Mistletoe. I would never have guessed. The skies were gorgeous! A pink Valentine sky, I think. Puppy is cute and yes your home looks so warm and cozy.
