Happy Friday!

Hello, good morning, and Happy Friday!  Looks like we are going to have a wet weekend.  We have a relaxing weekend planned.  Geeps and I are going to catch a movie tomorrow afternoon with our daughters.  We weren't invited.  We noodled our way in.  When Gennifer was doing my hair the other day, she was receiving texts from her sister Erika, regarding their movie plans.  I said.....Hey...I would love to go too!  And when I told Geeps, he said...what about me?  So I guess whoever wants to go will be going.  I think my Mom may even join us.   I think we are seeing the Tom Hanks movie.
I want to talk about Pinterest!  Do you Pinterest?  I do.  I love it.  I was only lukewarm on it at first.  It was confusing to me (what's new?  Lots of things are!) and I only did it a little bit. But then my girls were raving about it, and I gave it another whirl.  Oh my goodness, what a great site this is.  I am a magazine junkie and I must spend a fortune on my favorite magazines.  Well, in our efforts to "Simplify" our lives, I have not been purchasing too many as of late.  I often go to Barnes & Noble to leaf through some of my favorites, purchasing only the ones that I know I will refer to later.   Pinterest has virtually taken away my magazine habit!!  You can find any kind of inspiration you can imagine on Pinterest.  What fun.  If you haven't tried it, you should!   I found this little gem on Pinterest, and thought it was genius.  Using an empty oatmeal container, you attach your headbands for easy access, and also have the use of the container itself for hair bands and accessories.  This would have been fantastic for me when I had two little girls who never went anywhere without pretty bows in their hair.  But for me, I wanted to display my newest shop items, headband Bloomies!  The one I saw on Pinterest was aqua.  But  it was done with paper.  I actually removed the labeling and painted the cardboard in a pretty aqua, because I had a can of that from my recent garden chair I painted.  I painted two coats, and did the lid as well.  But the next one I do I think I will try it in paper, for a smoother surface.  But I love it!
Displayed on a chunky candle holder, it looks like a sleek cake!  I have it in my living room in front of the window for lighting purposes.
Whoever thought of this clever idea should be applauded!  I was telling Gennifer that when she and Erika were little, I used to use these large oatmeal containers to make baby cradles for their dollies.  I crocheted little baby blankets and made little pillows, and they loved them.
Ducey wants to say hi.
I am off to Home Depot to get what I need to repair my walls before I paint them.   Go make it a great day!
XO  Kris

Hi Kris, a quiet weekend sounds nice and similar to what we have planned. I'm still lukewarm on Pinterest as I haven't quite figured it out yet. I'm on there, but don't have much on my boards. Great idea with the oatmeal container. Enjoy your weekend. Heather

Happy Friday Kris, I can't wait to hear about the Tom Hanks movie-looks good but heavy. I haven't done Pinterest because I'm scared of not knowing what I'm doing! Have a great weekend, hope the painting goes well. We're off to the mountains for sledding, snoeshowing, food and games all weekend. Hugs, Noreen

Cute idea for displaying your bloomies. I put mine on my wire mannequin and it looks terrific. I was getting a little nervous that the rain was going to evade us once again but the clouds have moved in and it's looking promising. Have a great weekend with your girls. Patty

That movie looks so good. When we were at WarHorse last weekend we saw the previews for it and Brian and I both want to see it. Let me know what you think. I've been on Pinterest but I'm like you were, it's ok. Maybe I'll give it another shot. I love the cute little headband holdery thingy doodle. What a perfect idea!! Ok, off to Pinterest.

I joined Pinterest but that is as far as I've gotten. I keep planning to sit down and figure it all out. Maybe I'll do that this weekend since I looked as if we will be snowed in!!

Best,
Bonnie

Kris, just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog! I found you through Holly and have been following you for a couple of years now. I never comment, I'm just a lurker! ;) Thanks for being so "real", I can actually imagine sitting down and visiting with you! I, too, am a Grandma and watch my Grandson several days a week, I just found you on Pinterest and am following you, it's quite addictive! Found some great ideas, there!

Have a great weekend!

I feel the same about Pinterest. I wasn't crazy about it at first but now I am a believer. It's like getting a new magazine every day. I have started a board called "tried and true" of things I found on Pinterest that I have actually done...and it's filling up.

I want to see that movie too...looks good. I love Tom Hanks though in almost anything. I haven't done the Pinterest thing as I am not sure I guess how to work it. Melody is wild about it though, haha. I might try it out. I am looking forward to a wet week-end. Enjoy yours!

I'm on Pinterest.. are we following each other yet? LOL! You'll have to tell us about the movie. My 2 sisters and I are going to see The Descendent on Tuesday - and out to lunch, of course. A quiet weekend for us too.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I LOVE pinning! Loads of fun and you are soooo right - cuts way down on magazines and bits and pieces of paper that I usually forget where I put them anyway! Have fun with your daughters!

Glad to see you have finally come over to the other side of pinning. Now, if I can just figure out the PICNIK closing thing. Google is really messing with us. First, they make us change to Google Chrome and now they are messing with my photo editing tool. The basics are there, but all the cool framing tools are gone. Watch they will be messing with Pinterest next, mark my words here and now.
Have fun at the movies, we are working on digging out. Will update separate on the skin stuff. Off to figure this out, which I will keep you posted on. Have fun at the movies. Are you really moving to Miami?

Hi Kris,
Yes that is such a clever idea! Darn, I was hoping you'd say pinterest wasn't great! lol! I have been holding back on doing it. I think I spend enough time on the computer with blogging and didn't want to do more. My oldest daughter has been telling me that "I Need to DO it". She even sent me an invite. Everyone I talk to says it's so addicting. I usually have good will power as far as things like this goes. As far as dieting, NADA! I'm sure I will cave before long, but for now still loving my magazines.
