Three Perfet Days = One Perfect Weekend

We had such a nice weekend.  We did a lot of things around the house that needed to be done.  Watched a lot of football!  Did a lot of cooking.  And eating.  Did some sewing.  Some Bloomie making.  Played with my two favorite girls.  Watched a couple of movies.  Visited with friends.  Good stuff.  All good stuff.
This morning after watching the Rose Parade, I made breakfast for Geeps and I.   Have you ever heard of a Dutch Baby Pancake?  They are so good.  So easy.  This is all you need.
I got this recipe from an issue of Sunset magazine, years ago.   You just melt your butter in the same pan you cook the Dutch Baby in.  I used my large paella pan.   Meanwhile, blend your eggs, flour and milk together.  Pour this batter into your melted butter, and place into a preheated 425 degree oven, for about 20 minutes.  The pancake will climb the sides of the pan, and bubble up.
Here is a close up of the ratio of eggs to flour and milk if you want to make this.
Once out of the oven, cut into wedges, and server with plenty of fresh lemons and powdered sugar.

Geeps likes to put maple syrup on his too.   We had some fresh oranges from the grove, and yogurt with homemade granola.
Yesterday, Geeps fixed breakfast.  Sausage and egg sandwiches on sourdough English Muffins.
Yes, my husband wears overalls when he works in the grove.  We are farmers.  You should see my get up when I am mucking out the chicken coop!
After breakfast we had a visit from our two favorite little girls.  Pay no mind to the walls again!!  That paper WILL come down!!
My neighbor Jane got the grands all a darling little apron for helping me in the kitchen.  I thought that they might like to play with them in the play kitchen.  This little play kitchen with foods and dishes was their Mommy and Aunt E's when they were little.  I am so glad I saved it.  Noah wasn't here today, but the girls wanted Uncle "Goo" (Drew) to try on his apron.
After the girls left, I went to the feed store to get some supplies.  I love to go into Norco to the feed store.  Norco is the next town over from  us.  And actually stands for North Corona.   It is an equestrian town.  Most homes have horses, and lots of other animals, like chickens and goats.
I love all of those nice neat stacks of grain and feed bags.   I also love how Norco has red, white and blue stripes painted in their streets downtown.
Even their convenience stores are cute and "country" looking.
I went home to take care of the chickens.
And then Geeps and I played paddle tennis on the sport court.  It was hot!  Mr. G said he was surprised that I had so much game!!!   I was surprised that he was surprised!   After our workout, we went in to watch the game.  Yea Oregon!   I know I am going to wake up very sore tomorrow from our tennis game.  We plan to start getting out there to use the court more regularly.  It is just crazy that we don't go out and play more often!
This evening I worked in my sewing room for awhile.  I have a few new Bloomie colors.  I will show you those tomorrow.  Right now, my pillow is calling.
Night night.
Kris

That pancake looks amazing, I've never heard of such a thing. Love the pic of Drew, what a ham! You be careful on the court with your knee, so easy to twist it. Good for you for getting out there and doing some exercising. Mine starts today. Have a great day!

Hello Kris,

Your entry for today compelled me to comment. I got such a kick out of seeing the article from Sunset Magazine for the Dutch Baby. I have the same article and have been making them for the family for at least 25, maybe 30 years. I bet it was published in the 70's. That's how old I am! A member of the make love, not war generation! I have another Sunset recipe for Apple Cinnamon DB and would be happy to share it with you. I enjoy your blog very much and read each new episode. I live not too far from you...Fullerton.

I could eat the whole thing! I think a dutch baby is my very very favorite breakfast item and I only get to have them at the pancake house. Make me one? ;)

Glad you had such a nice weekend. Sounds perfect.

What a fun day! I spent mine giving up on needle turn applique, moaning because we took the tree down and it turns out I'm super allergic so all the tree pollen made me miserable for a bit, and crocheting. Well...that last bit was perfectly fine.

It looks like you had a wonderful weekend. The Dutch Baby Pancakes... yum! Looks like the hens are laying lots of beautiful eggs too.

I love the red, white, and blue street stripes in Norco. Too cute.

Happy New Year my friend!

I've been looking for this recipe for years.....I could never remember the name! As soon as I saw your photos I knew I hit pay dirt, yippee! Thanks so much for this post. I love the look of your town - I really like seeing people's home - but not many post pictures of the actual town they live in. My town is so small and run down that it could probably win the ugliest town award......

Hugs from KerrieLynn

I love those pancakes, but I think I need to find me one of those pans. It's all about the lemon in there for me. Boy, did you have a fun weekend. Lots of football and staring at the walls here. On to a new week and a new year. Can't wait to see what fun we gals will be up too soon. But, I need to get myself in gear.
