Monday...Monday.....

Hello out there!  Did your team win yesterday?  I didn't care who won, I just hoped to win the football pool.  I didn't .  I never do.  Boo-Hiss.  Well I didn't embarrass myself or my husband at his boss' house yesterday.  I was on my best behavior.  I didn't spill anything, or trip.   Didn't overflow their toilet, or get one of my terrible cases of hiccups that last for hours, and break the barrier of sound.  I made pleasant conversation and enjoyed myself immensely.   Yesterday was clear and beautiful here in So. California.  On the way there coming through the toll roads towards the beach, you could see the outline of Catalina perfectly!  It was so pretty.  The house we went to was in San Clemente.  Their house sat high on a hill and they had a fabulous view of the ocean.  There were lots of people there, and quite a spread of food.  We brought the shredded beef, and it was yummy.  There was sushi, and every kind of dip you could imagine. Along with wings, and cold cuts and cheese, and drinks of all sorts.  They had one of those "Nothing But Bundt" Cakes and it was melt in your mouth delicious!   We left shortly after the game was over, and we quickly changed into our comfies and watched our last episode of Downton Abbey to bring us to current time on the series.  Oh how we have enjoyed this show!!!!  I even have Drew and his girlfriend hooked on it now too.
Today after I dropped Noah at school, I went to visit my friend Jae for a bit.  We laughed and chatted like we always do.  She had an appointment so I left and popped into the public library to visit their used book store.  They feature different deals all the time, and today was half off all cookbooks.  I found a book by one of my favorite chefs, Rocco Despirito.  I have a couple of his other books and they are so good.
The recipes are simple and delicious.  With some great photos.
Priced at 3.00, but half off, I got it for 1.50!   I found this series of books that looked like a good read, but they were missing the first and second in this series.  Have you heard of these?
I will need to find the first two before I can read them though.  Also got one garden book.  Mostly because I loved the cover and thought it would be pretty sitting out.
I love our public library's used book store.  Great prices!!   I also wanted to find a movie that my friend Kate found at her library that she loved.  She said it was crochet heaven!!!  I couldn't find it though Kate.  Darn!
I took these pictures of my hens a little while ago.  They can still fit through the fence that separates the grove from the backyard.  At least, all but Ham can fit.
Poor Ol Ham...can you see her over there on the other side?
I have been living in my funky crochet slippers lately.  Today is kind of chilly and a slipper sort of day.

It has been a very busy few weeks around here!   I don't have a lot of pep today.  Noah has a cold and I feel like I could be getting one too.  I think I will go fix myself a cup of hot tea, and work on my afghan and get cozy underneath it while I stitch.
See you soon.
XO  Kris

The colors in the afghan are so pretty. I am glad you were able to behave yourself on Superbowl Sunday. LOL. I have a friend that gets the hiccups if she eats raw veggies. Weird. If they are cooked that doesn't happen. Your slippers are so darn cute, I want some. The bling on them is just perfect:)

I am glad you enjoyed the party...and that you were good, haha. How I love the colors in that afghan...just gorgeous..it is kind of gloomy and weird today...I think I heard rain tomorrow. We have watched every episode of season one now of Downton Abbey. They were on our Netflix. Now season 2 is well under way. How am I going to get those shows we have missed from this season?? I don't want to start watching until we are completely caught up!! Hopefully I won't have to wait until Netflix gets them....I don't know how that show hooked me in quite so quick but it sure did. I think I really love a time era show like that, and English as well. Oh, and your slippers are sure cute! : )

I'm looking forward to tomorrows promise of rain so that I can find me a pair of them funky crochet slippers and just stay cozy all day. I hope that darn bug doesn't find you again. Have a wonderful evening. Patty

Those are quite some slippers you got there! I feel sorry for the slightly overweight chicken. Must be lonely over there. I would love to learn to crochet. There's nothing like a case of the hiccoughs to make yourself the unwanted center of attention!

Loved the slippers! And being cozy under an afghan with a cup of tea is my favorite way to spend time. You had some great finds at the library. Ours also has a little shop with books for sale, but I've had a dry spell lately. Maybe I need to go back. Sounds like you had a great time at the Super Bowl party--we were pulling for the Giants. We're Colts and Saints fans (mainly Drew Brees fans) so we were pulling for Peyton's little brother!

It sounds like you had a great time at the party. I always am nervous to go to one but usually have a good time. We're hooked on Downton Abbey too.. I am still upset from the soap episode! I think we're going to have to watch Season 1 again to remind of of things. Like who is the guy who got burned???
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Well of course you behaved youself, you are such a lady. Now I, on the other hand, would have put my foot in my mouth seventeen times before I got out the door. That's just me. I've never heard of that series of books. I'm reading Sara Donati's series. The same on Genn was reading. Have a great day!

I'm glad the Super Bowl party was fun. Their house sounds like a bit of heaven, with the ocean view. I bet your shredded beef was a hit. I'm already wanting to make it again! Yum that you had some Nothing Bundt cake at the party....you know I love that stuff. We didn't win any money in this house either. boo.

Have a good week!

Hi Kris, I got a good chuckle out ot this post. My daughter, Karrah and her family came to watch the game with me. My 13 year old grandie, Taylor had to have us bring her the plunger. Ha-Ha! I didn't care about the game either. Just fun to party and watch commercials. I tried a new pork recipe. Pretty darn tasty! I always love a glimpse of your girls and your slippers are too fun!
Hugs,
Jann
