Summer-Like In So. Cal

Yesterday it was in the mid 90's here where we live.  Our daughter had invited us to join them down in Laguna Beach to do some beach combing.  It was in the mid 80's at the beach.  Just beautiful!
We held hands with the girls, and they explored every inch of those tide pools!
My big brother even took my hand over the slippery rocks!  Chivalry is not dead!!!
Geeps, the Marine Biogist, told the kids about all of the marine life living in the pools.  Hannah was SO interested!!!

Clairey was as happy as she could be, getting wet and sandy, and climbing over all of those rocks!

There were people swimming, surfing, paddle boarding and playing volleyball.  There were sunbathers, and picnikers, people watchers and dog walkers!  Catalina looked close enough to swim to.  The ocean was as calm as a lake.   The board walk was as lively and busy as a summer day.

The sun setting down over the ocean was beautiful!   Before we knew it, high tide was coming in, and it was time to make our way back to our cars, and head inland.

Today was much cooler, and I am hearing it is going to be cold for the next few days again.  But that little taste of summer sure got us all ready for the beach!!
Today I hosted  "The Knitty Biddies"  here at my house.  My friend Denise brought me these gorgeous Calla Lilies.
We sat and stitched for hours!  Noah was at Disneyland with Erika today so I didn't have to rush or cut it short.  It was a fun day!
I am getting some of my Spring things out.  That always feels so good to me!  Spring means new beginnings.  Gardening season.  Longer days.  Flowers!  BBQ time.  Will it come in like a Lion?  We shall see.  I put my Spring baskets on the front doors.
My mouse "Dolly" is wearing her bunny ears, and carrying her Easter Basket.
Luckily I found my Easter pillows well before Easter.  Unlike the hunt for the Valentine pillows this year!
Bunny Rabbit Girl sits pretty at the bistro table on my porch.
Giant Eggs scatter the planter.  And a Spring flag went up.

Can you see Ducey looking through the window at Maui?
Miss Maui...she is such a pretty girl.
This morning when glancing out the front bedroom window, I caught this funny sight.  Maui was crouched down behind the swing, poised to pounce on this squirrel.  I watched them for a long time, and then ran for my camera, hoping that they would still be there when I returned.
I wonder what she would have done if she had caught him?

Before I go today, I want to show you what a blogging friend of mine sent me this weekend.  I was so touched by her gesture!!
I love this!  It's a wind up chicken that lays bubble gum eggs.  And she also made me a quilted mug rug for my coffee!  Thank you so much Niki!!!!  I love them both!!!  You are so thoughtful, and it tickled me pink to know that you thought of me!!!
Go check out her blog and say hello. She is always sharing other sites and informative blogs too!
I am feeling much better!  Thank you for all of the well wishes!
We made a trip to Mother's Market Health Food Store, and when I come back I will share about that.
I wanted to say welcome to any of you who are new to my blog.  I have been enjoying getting to know so many of you through your blogs and messages.  And lastly, to any of you who may be near those awful tornados, or know someone else who has suffered through them, you are in my prayers.
XO  Kris

Normally I want winter to last because we usually have snow, which I love. But this year we have teaser warm temps and no white stuff. So I am ready for spring to get here waaaaay early this year. I can't believe how fast this year is scooting along!

I can't believe it was in the mid 90's!!! It was hot here too but not that hot. The pictures of the tide pools brought back a lot of memories. I think I have photos in our family album in some of the same areas.

It's not nice to tease your midwestern friends with your warm beach photos!! We woke to two inches of snow this morning. Then our temperature roared up to 35 and it melted! Looks like a spectacular day!

Best,
Bonnie

All those fun beach pictures make me impatient for spring and summer! Your front door and porch looks great, I think I'm going to run to the nursery this week and spruce up with a few new spring plants. Take care! Lynne

What a beautiful day! It's been awesome here in Nor cal - low 70's - if it was just a little warmer, it'd feel like Hawaii! (I just smile and pretend that it is, anyway!)

I have so much to say about this post, but I'll just say I love it all to make it short and sweet :)

You are so very welcome Kris!
I'm glad you enjoyed them.
I love the beach pics, how far is that from your home? It was hot here too yesterday, 85. That's high for us. I'm not looking forward to summer, like the rest. Well you know our summers are brutal...

Your day at the beach looks splendid. Wanna trade for some snow? LOL. Loving all the Spring decorating. I am just not in the mood for it yet here. We don't even have a blade of green grass. Thanks for the beach tour, it brightened my day:)

What great pics you got of the beach. Your house looks so pretty, everything looks so green. Our grass is still brown and yucky looking. Nikki is a sweetheart. I've been hoping to meet up with her but her schedule is so busy. What sweet gifts!

You guys are so lucky to live in such a beautiful area! And, I love those enormous easter eggs...where did you get those! Somehow though, I don't think they'd look as good in our brown yard and bushes!

Those tornadoes have just broken my heart. I am not ready for the spring weather that we get around here. We had a scary day last May, and it terrified me. My thoughts are with all of the victims of the recent devastation too. It humbles me and makes me think twice about life.

Just saw Genn's beach pictures too. Loving them all. What a fun weekend you all had. I wish I lived closer to the beach. It takes us 7 hours to get to the Texas coast from here. I love it though, and we may go pretty soon. Love the pictures of your house too, and that giant pink egg is awesome. :)

You are non-stop. But, then if I could beach comb, I would be too. Oh, that's right I'm on my way in less than two weeks. Just waiting for the final call back today that my BP is where she wants it. What a crazy couple of weeks this has been. By the way, I adored our stroll today with the whole gang. Thanks for the reminder to change my flag to Easter before we leave.

Hi Kris, Well I will admit that I'm a bit jealous of your weather but we had sunshine and the high 60's yesterday. I am so ready for spring and would love to have your warmth! As for decorating with bunnies-not yet for me, I will after St. Patty's Day but then we leave the week after Easter so I'm not sure how much I'll put out. No outside decorating yet, snow is still in the forecast.
Can you please send some of that warmth here...oh my and the beach too?! Maybe I just need to come back to so.Ca.
Hugs, Noreen

Kris the trip to the beach looks so fun! I love feeling the sand beneath my feet. I would go barefoot all the time if I could. Hubby and I visited Catalina years ago on a cruise. It was a cute little island. Your Easter decor looks cute. I have the same giant eggs. I cleaned up the front beds this afternoon. Thought I would try and do a bit of Outdoor decorating tomorrow or Monday. Still working on living room. Hopefully will finish up tomorrow. Love your cute cat!
Hugs,
Jann
