Happy Friday

It's Friday.  Woo-Hoo!  I always feel a little like this on Friday afternoons.
How about you?  No big plans this weekend for us.  Just doing some things around the house.  And probably some pool time.
Yesterday I had made up my mind to finish the ever growing pile of ironing in my sewing room!  I iron all of Greg's work clothes.  And a good bit of my own things need ironing too.  I usually keep up on it, and don't have more than a few items to do at a time.  But somehow I let it pile up to the point of dread.  I went in there and tackled about 2/3 of it one evening, and just wanted to get the rest done.  Phew.....
Greg said to just take it all to the cleaners and be done with it.  But I don't mind ironing.  I have always done it.  I even took in ironing when I was a young bride to earn some extra money.   Plus, the view from where I do it tain't too shabby either.
I had the patio shades down to shield the afternoon sun, and my Country music was playing on the radio to keep me company.  My son Drew and his girlfriend Diana were here playing with Noah, so I just kept going until I was done.
When I got down to the last shirt, I unearthed this pillow that I was working on.  I am almost done, and I think it will look great on my new wicker set!
I have a little hint for all of you home sewers out there.  ( how come every time I write that word....sewers...as soon as I get it on the screen, I see SEWers...as in icky waste water?)
Anyway, if you have a Joann's near you, they sell the sample squares of decorator fabric for 2 dollars a piece.  They are 24 inch square, heavy duty decorator fabrics, and they make great foundation pieces for pillows, and lots of things.  I use them a lot.  I have several pretty ones that I use all over the house, and in table settings and all.  This one is a buttery soft yellow.  I haven't snipped my threads yet on the flower, and I have a few more to attach to achieve the volume I want, but it is turning out well.
I had pretty much decided I was done with my Bobble blanket.  But, then I realized I had plenty enough yarn to do another round, so onward I go.
When I am done, there will be another approx. 12 inches added to the length you see here.  Then I will have to figure out how I want to edge it.  I have thoroughly enjoyed making this blanket, and secretly don't want it to be finished.
This was my UK yarn.  17 skeins.  Thirty some odd dollars.  Free shipping.  What a bargain.  And what a dream it is to work with.
My chickens have been a little bit stingy with their eggs lately.  I almost always get an egg a day from each.  But they are not sharing so well lately.  Molting time maybe?  I am not sure.  But today, they left me a nice pile of eggs, and I thanked them, and opened their coop for them to go have the run of The Ponderosa.
Well, I believe that is all I have to share today.  My heart is very heavy for my sweet friend Holly.  She is so very much in my thoughts and prayers.
Go hug your Mama's and Daddy's today.
XO  Kris

I am just loving those gorgeous colors on your blanket! So happy! I don't iron, I don't buy things that need to be ironed. Ironing gives me a headache. Thanks for all the sweet messages and for sending your love every day. Have a great weekend!

Hi there, Great Friday post; Hunter and I will have a low key weekend as well. Actually right now we are watching the Food Network, one of my favorite shows-Diners, DriveIns and Dives with Guy. He was from our old town.
Going now to visit your friend Holly and see if I can offer a word of encouragement.
You asked about us going somewhere next week-actually my bff Kam and her family, including Lexie are going on vacation.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs, Noreen

I really love that pillow and I agree, I think it will be just perfect on the wicker. The bobble blanket is just a stun! Love it...

I ironed for years and years it seemed...I too enjoyed it! Somewhat therapeutic or something. But a few years ago we started sending hubby's dress shirts to the cleaners and now I am spoiled. But there is just such a feeling of accomplishment looking a freshly ironed collection of clothes. Kind of miss the feeling.

Eggs look good...enjoy your week-end. I am off to check out your friends blog.

OH I love your blanket! I put the last stitch in my ripple last night. Now I have all those ends to work in but I don't care because it's one of my favorite things I've ever made in any craft category :)
If you're in touch with Holly please send her my love--I don't know what her situation is but I adore her and her blog and hope everything is ok....

That first picture cracks me up!
Your blanket is gorgeous and I can't wait to see your finished pillow. Did you see a pattern somewhere for your pillow or is this all your creation?
Have a great weekend!

Love the blanket...beautiful colors and I know what you mean about not wanting it to be finished! Ironing...almost never do it and glad when it is done, however, if it's a quilt that's a different story! ;)

Sounds like you had a nice day on Friday. Your blanket is gorgeous. I love all the colors, so bright and cheerful. I buy hubby the wrinkle free shirts (Haagar) and if you pull them out of the dryer right away, they are. Hope you are enjoying your weekend. We have an open house tomorrow, hopefully we'll have some interested people come through. :-)

Bobble blanket...it looks beautiful! 12 more inches. Wooooo-eeee! Mine STILL isn't complete either. I have only about three or four more rows...just haven't done it. I was concentrating my efforts on the baby shower gifts for the party we went to yesterday. That's over now...I have no excuse for not finishing the blanket! I'm so happy you've enjoyed yours. The colors are wonderful! I have another in process...it's the very first one I started (in cotton). Am only a few rows into it and need to decide whether to proceed or rip it. Not sure that I bought enough yarn and I don't think the colors are available any longer. Maybe I'll make some bobble scarves! Ironing...I can smell those shirts after being ironed...love that smell! (and your view) Hugs, Annette

Oh how I cannot wait for my first egg. You good wife. Thank god Dean never needs much ironed. I hate doing it and send it out if needed.

Kris, all my Friday excitement I missed reading this...but enjoyed your update!

Thanks for the tip about material at JoAnns.

I really love the way your bobble is turning out. The flow of colors is so pleasing.

My mom had me iron sheets and pillow cases and tablecloths, all of which I especially enjoyed compared to the trickier shirts and dresses:)
Joy to you and yours!
