Hello Weekend

How is your weekend going?  I woke up today and decided that I am not getting better as quickly as I should be.  Especially since I have been on antibiotic for a week.  As the day progressed, I began to feel better, but if I am not much better by Monday, I am going back to the Dr. to see why I still feel so foggy and dizzy.
I must be feeling better though because I felt like cooking today.  I made some yummy quesadillas for Geeps and I and we sat out on the patio to eat lunch.  And tonight after watering the garden and bringing this in, I decided a Caprese was in order to go along with our light dinner.
Tonight I plucked two nice tomatoes off of one of the bigger tomato plants.  I have been getting tons of these juicy little cherry tomatoes lately.  I wind up eating them like grapes while I am out in the garden though!  I planted 5 tomatoe plants this  year, and they are all producing a lot of fruit.
We love caprese around here.  Especially if it is all from the garden.  I also brought in a few yellow squash and zucchini, and cucumber.  I sliced the cucumber up, along with some nice proscuitto, and some ripe avocado slices, and I grilled up the squash and a handful of fresh asparagus on my Lodge grill pan.
And just as I was about to serve this with some french bread for light summer meal, our daughter Erika came in with Mountain Mike's pizza!!!   Our son Drew and his girlfriend Diana were here too, so it all got eaten up!
Mercy it was so good!  See, I am getting better.  Food actually looked and tasted good today.
I have decided to see just what all of the hullaballo is about on this series of books, Fifty Shades of Grey.
I am a bit of a prude, according to my children, and actually, it is true, I am.  But I am curious about them.  My daughter Gennifer says I won't like them.  She LOVED them.  Her husband read them.  My friend Jae read them.  She was at Glen Ivy last week and said that just about every woman there was reading it!!!   I will let you know what I think.

I miss having a yarn project.  I may pick up with one I sort of abandoned quite some time ago.  I began this blanket when I was brand new to crochet.  I didn't know a thing about yarn choice.  I picked the colors for sheer fun.  And didn't realize that making this out of cotton would not only be very heavy and cumbersome to work with, but simply was not the right choice of yarn to use for a blanket.
I hate to leave things unfinished.   So I will probably go ahead and get this one done.   In the mean time, I am thinking about what I want to make next.  I also have several quilt tops that need to be completed too.
It was a nice lazy day for us.  Well, for me.  I don't know what is on the agenda for tomorrow yet.  I hope it is nice and warm so I can swim.  I love to swim.  How about you?  What are you doing this weekend?
XO  Kris

Sounds like you've had a particularly nasty infection which has gone into your middle ear - not that I'm a doctor but I've had these infections before. Maybe a change in antibiotics would help. Hope you get it sorted soon.
All of your harvest looks so healthy and yummy. Well done you.
I think the whole world's reading '50 Shades....'. I downloaded it on to my Kindle last week at the insistence of the young folk in my life but I have to say, it's not that well written so have given up for something a little less saucy! Most folks are on the third book by now so it's obviously highly addictive!
Off to help at a stately home with their garden opening today. Hope the rain stays off otherwise we'll be eating scones and my homemade strawberry jam for weeks to come!
Have a great and healthy week.x

Yummmmmmm!!! Kris!!!
You must be feeling better :)
And you are thinking about swimming, Hooray!!!
Your cotton blanket is so cheery even if you are not happy with the weight of it...it will be interesting to see how you decide to finish it.
Happy Sunday!

The goodies from your garden look spectacular, my kind of dinner. Nothing like fresh basil too.

Hope you are feeling better soon, remember the antibiotics can make you feel icky too.

I like your blanket and all those colors, you have quite the talent for this.

Please don't show any more homegrown tomato photos for at least two more weeks! That's when ours will finally come to the table and I'm soooo tired of waiting for them. I may just pluck one and eat it standing in by the vine!! Our basil is beautiful too--just hanging around waiting for it's "pal" to make us a caprese salad too.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Best,
Bonnie

Those tomatoes looks so good. Caprese salad and pizza is what we had when I was there with you, makes me homesick for you. I do hope you start to feel better soon. Maybe a trip back to the doctor would be a good thing.

All the food looks so yummy, I can't wait for my garden to start producing:) Sounds like you need to take an immune booster and a probiotic to help you get better faster.

We are having a weekend much the same here. 90s still, watering still, pizza for dinner last night, your salad for dinner tonight with chicken. Don't you hate when you get that far along and the yarn just isn't right. But, I usually finish anyways and place to be "looked" at only. The colors are great. Maybe, you could make a quilt and have that on the other side some how. I'll have to put on my thinking cap for that one. Please please get well soon, I agree back to the docs on Monday if not better.

We made bruschetta last night and bbq'd zucchini too. We must be on the same garden time table. Have a wonderful Sunday. Aren't you loving this weather?

Okay you are making me very hungry and it isn't even lunch time yet. The color of the tomatoes are so beautiful. I think you should head back to the Doc, you should be feeling a lot better with one week of antibiotics under your belt.

I read those books and i have to say that I was not all that impressed. Once you get over the shock factor of the sex, it just isn't that well written. I think I read them all to see where the story went, and how the characters developed, not for the sex part which frankly got a bit boring. Yes, I am a prude.

Good luck,
Meredith

Hi Kris, So glad you and up and about again. Loved seeing your Caprese and now I'm going to pick some basil, slice a tomato and add some cheese on a tortilla. Yumm.
So let me know what you think about the book-all I've heard is how awful it is and I'm not a prude but certainly pretty straight.
Love your blanket. Enjoy your sunshine and pool-this week we wished we had one, it's been in the high 90's and 100's-so hot, humid and smokey that all I want to do is swim and stay in water.
Hugs, Noreen

Kris.. you actually seemed to get better as you wrote your blog.. I hope you're over the hump and don't have to go to the doc tomorrow. Let us know! Yep, I think you should finish that blanket and either use it as a throw on the deck or as a gift. Too much time invested in it not to finish. Get well, my friend!
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Your summer yummies look soooo fresh and delicious! Good luck with the book. I love them, but I know a lot of people say they are poorly written. I'm taking a long time on the third one because I've grown to love the characters and will miss them.

Hi Kris
I am visting with my daughter Jill who writes "Blessings of a Stay At Home Mom" and she wanted me to visit your blog. And I am glad that I did. I am a new follower. Jill gave me her first book of the 50 Shades of Grey series. She also wasn't sure if I would enjoy reading it because of the subject matter. lol
I am looking forward to getting to know you better.
I am also new to blogging and learning as I go.

All those veggies look so good! My dad was just talking today about how his mom and grandma would make meals straight from the garden :-) Awesome!
Ahhh the Fifty Shades of grey... I finished book 1 and started book 2. I just gave my mom book one to read. It definitely can raise an eyebrow or 2! LOL But strangley it's draws you in so you have to see what happens. Let me know what you think.
Have a great week!

blessings,
Jill

I am trying so hard to resist those books. all my friends (from church?!?!?) have read it and love it. I read a sample on my nook and I thought the writing was HORRIBLE! but what do I know. . .: )

anyway, I was thinking, if that blanket you gave up on was 100% cotton, could you finish it up a just a bit and use it for a throw rug or pool blanket? just an idea. glad you are feeling better!
