Greetings From Big Bear

Hi!  We are up here in beautiful Big Bear.  We arrived yesterday morning, to very cloudy skies and blustery wind.  After setting up camp, and launching the boat, we packed some snacks and headed out to the lake.
You can see how dark the skies were.  But it was fun anyway.  We were all in great spirits, and happy to be up here.
Everyone in their red, white and blue!
We had planned to have an easy dinner so that we could go back out on the lake and watch the fireworks.  I made up a big pot of chili ahead at home, and we bbq'd some hot dogs and I cut up some goodies to go on top of our chili dogs.

While waiting for the fireworks show, Jake brought our attention to the rising moon.  It was quite a sight to watch that big glowing orb come up over the mountain, and then cast that glistening light on the lake.  It was really magical!  The fireworks did not disappoint either, and we trudged back to camp with full bellies and tired kids, ready to call it a day.
Last night, I slept like a rock!  I NEVER sleep through the whole night.  But I did last night!  And we woke to clear blue skies with no wind!  This is what our campsite view is.
It is so pretty and peaceful to sit out in our chairs and sip coffee, and watch the lake wake up.   The girls fed the ducks some crackers, and I even saw a juvenile wood duck.  Isn't this Mallard a handsome guy?
Geeps made a fantastic breakfast!!
I am falling asleep here at the computer.  More adventures at the lake tomorrow.
XO  Kris

Sounds like a perfect way to celebrate! I may have mentioned this before--a trip to Big Bear was our last vacation as a couple before our first son was born. That made it extra special.

Best,
Bonnie

Looks like you were enjoying your other lake! I haven't been there since I was a kid. Don't you love all that fun on the water and cooking out... and a nice blissful sleep to top it off!

How fun Kris! Today hubby and I went to a lake that our oldest daughter's family is camping at. We had lunch and then went down to the water so the kids could play. Have a fun weekend.
