Saturday we had so much fun in Oak Glen picking apples. We came home tired and dirty. I took a shower and went to bed with wet hair. When I woke up the next morning, Greg was leaning over me all dressed, and said, "You comin' with me Bunny?" I groaned and rolled over, wanting nothing more than to stay in bed. But as I lay there thinking about how much I love Big Bear this time of year, and how we only have a couple more weeks to leave the boat on the lake, I decided what I really wanted to do was go too. The laundry and grocery shopping would have to wait. I threw on some jeans, brushed my teeth, washed my face, and did the best I could with hair that was sticking up every which way, and off we went. We did drive through McDonald's for coffee, and I tossed a couple apples in a bag for a snack. The drive up was beautiful! Big Bear gets a true Fall, unlike where we live. There were reds, and yellows, and golds, shimmering in the breeze.
We got to the boat, and immediately began to work. We had brought up the enclosure for the boat, and Greg had gotten some new parts for the zippers and we needed to first lubricate all of zipper teeth, and then put each piece up.
This took quite a bit of doing, but eventually we did get each zipper fixed, and the enclosure all up.
After that big job, we got busy cleaning all of the clear windows with some super duper cleaner that Greg got at the marine store. We sprayed it on, then buffed it to a shine. Wax on, wax off. It worked great! And then it was time to leave the dock. It was windy on the water, but we were nice and toasty inside the enclosure. We went to the dam, and did some fishing. Well, Greg fished. I took my favorite seat and got busy on my orders. Look at those colorful trees on the shore.
We stayed out pretty much all day. The fish weren't biting, but we still had a great time. We headed back to the dock where we got everything all cleaned up, battened down, and tucked in til next time.
By this time we were both pretty hungry. We decided to see if we could get into The Sweet Basil this time. We have been wanting to go there, but the last time we tried, we couldn't get in without a reservation. We were lucky this time, and got a table. Thi is a teeny tiny place. Seating maybe 50 or so. Very charming inside. We were seated and they brought us a basket of fresh baked warm bread with whipped basil butter. Oh my!!! We decided to both order off the of the dinner special menu. Greg got the filet mignon, with cheese pasta in truffle sauce, and roasted veggies.
I had the Pork Porterhouse steak with pumpkin ravioli and roasted veggies. It was to die for!!!!
I had never even heard of a pork porterhouse steak before! It was tender and moist, and melted in my mouth! The ravioli were divine!!! The baby veggies, perfect! It was just SO good!!! After dinner we were tempted with the dessert menu, and decided, what the heck. So we each had a nice cup of coffee and ordered the fresh mini donuts, dusted in cinnamon sugar and served with three dipping sauces. Oh mercy, say no more!!!
This was a wonderful meal! We will certainly be going back to this little gem of a place on the mountain! We headed home, with full bellies, and happy hearts. It was a perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

Now, that's what I call a great day. But, I will admit I just drooled all over my desk at first glance of that meal. Off to find out how to hard boil the perfect egg. Back to reality diet, but thanks for the virtual cheat.
