Saturday Haps

Hey there.  Can you believe we are almost through October?  I can't!!!  Before you know it, the Holidays will be upon us.  We are still waiting for cool weather here in So. California.  We did have a few cooler days, but the heat is back this weekend.  Along with wind!  Hope this is the last of it.
I have remained very busy with my hand mades.  I did a couple of matching bow bands for my daughter's friend Tiana.  The bands were for her daughter, and her niece.  She wanted matching winter white with bows.
When Tiana got here to pick them up, she had her daughter model it.
She is the cutest little thing!  And so teeny tiny!!  She is almost two, and wears about a size 6 months in clothing!!
My son stopped over yesterday to show me the signs he had made to advertise for his teaching business.  I thought they turned out great!!
He discovered that one of the signs he put up had been removed, and replaced with several political signs.  He was so mad!!
This morning was hectic here!  Erika had a garage sale with her friend.  Then Noah and Hannah both had their soccer games.  And Hannah kicked in her first goal!  Way to go Hannah!!!!  I wish I had taken my camera!   Our niece Jessica was on her way through town to Palm Springs, so she came to the games.  That was fun to visit with her.  After the games, we went to Miguel's for lunch.  Then came home and began our chores.  I worked in the yard for a few hours, and then cleaned the coop.  I cleaned the back patio and changed the seating arrangement a little.
I put my wicker trunk out there for a coffee table, and will be painting it in the same creamy white as the other wicker pieces.
I also need to get a new outdoor rug for this space.  This wicker seating area is directly outside my sewing room.
We really use this patio all year long.  I have often thought of closing it in.  I need a new patio table and chairs by next summer.  This one is 20 years old.  We have replaced the cushions, but it is time to replace the whole thing.
Do you have a seasonal thing that you pull out every year, that you just hate to put away again because you love it so much.  My favorite Fall thing is a rug.  Funny huh?  I bought this rug up in Big Bear about 15 or more years ago.  I wash it every season, and I have had to resew the braids in places.  But I just love the vibrant and rich colors.  I put it in my laundry room this year.
I am always tempted to leave it out.  But I don't.  I just enjoy it every Fall!  I love it against my brick floor.
Tomorrow we are going to the Ghoul Fest and Carnival at my Mom's.  The kids have so much fun there.  They do it the weekend before Halloween, and select one culdesac for the kids to trick or treat on.  It is on my Mom's street.  All the homeowners decorate real big, and set up a table outside their garage doors, and the children all parade through trick or treating.  It is really cute!   Greg has to go up to the lake to pull the boat out of the water early in the morning.  I am staying home this time.  I will sure miss the lake though until next summer!
It was 9 years ago today that we lost my dear Dad.  I can't believe it.  I thought of him all day.   I miss him so!!!
That's about it from here.  See you soon.
XO  Kris

The rhythm of chores and seasonal changes reflected in decorations and activities is pleasing to me. I don't have a rug I like to bring out but I do like to use a nubbly plaid cotton tablecloth and napkins that has gold, burnt orange, navy blue and a little green that remind me of autumn leaves and pumpkins. I hope your son's signs attract good business for him, and I love seeing the results of your business, Kris! Blessings to you and yours as you celebrate times past and present with your family and friends. xx from Gracie

Hi Kris! I love the little model for the bow bands! You are selling up a storm! I hope your son gets lots of nice clients - it's wonderful that he is doing what he loves. I super love your rattan seating area. We get so much rain most of the year and then so many leaves and debris during the warm times, it's hard to put anything nice outside. I just decorate my table for most of the holidays - our mantel is in our hardly used living room. I do everything for Christmas, tho!
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

First of all, sending you lots of hugs and prayers with the anniversary of your dad's passing. You know that I get it, and I know it's hard, mixed in with many sweet and precious memories. Love ya friend!

That rug is so pretty, and I think it makes it extra special to bring it out just for fall. Give you something to look forward to after the long, hot summer. Sounds like you are busy and happy. I'm hoping that Drew's music lessons turn out great too...I have a friend who's husband started up guitar lessons here and it's taken off really well.

Kris, I will be thinking of you today remembering your wonderful Father, I know he means so much to you. Life is about chores isn't it? I swear you get them all done and you turn around and it is time to do them again. Hooray for the goal scorer!!!! That is really big news!
Hugs to you,

I had Papa on my mind before I even realized what day it was. Can't believe it's been 9 years.

Those white bows are so cute. Tiana's baby sure is cute. She is so tiny!

Drew's sign looked great. I can't believe someone took it down. How rude.

Your headbands and ear warmers all look so pretty! That little baby girl is so cute modeling them. I bet your hands and wrists will be sore! Be careful because it takes months to heal from a repetitive injury like that and it sucks. So neat that your son is starting his business. I wish him all the success he can handle! Very cool!

I am loving those bow bands...soo cute. This weather is just soo draining. I had just had my whole house cleaned when the wind picked up making it pointless...sigh, haha. I love the rug and can see why you'd enjoy that so much every Fall. I am glad you have soo many wonderful memories of your dad to cherish. Enjoy your week!

I love all these head bands you're making. They are too cute! I wish Jonathan could have Drew come to Us for lessons! He's mastered the Violin & Piano, but struggling a little with the Sax. We are having someone come to us for lessons, too. But, would be so fun to have it be Drew! Did he decide to stay & not go to Nashville?
Hope you all have a festive Halloween! Saw a pic of your cuties on FB, they all looked adorable & decked out!

I've seen drew's signs all around. I was tempted to call but thought "what if it was some creepy guy
" lol. Glad to know its drew.
If he really wants business i know quite a few homeschool moms looking for someone "cool" like him to motivate their kids to play.
If he gets signed up as a vendor for charter schools he ca make quite a bit of $$. Message me on FB if you are interested and I can get you more details.

Love all your wonderful creations!
