This boutique planning is a lot of work. And a LOT of fun! Yesterday, some of "The Biddies" came over and we tackled the sign making task. On the night of the Election, we performed a community service, and removed political signs from our area. Denise took all these signs home, and painted them black. Our plan was to cover them with butcher paper signs for our Boutique. Yesterday, with large roll of butcher paper, markers, paints, rulers, and Big Gulps.....we got to work.
We made 34 signs, which became double sided sleeves for 17 signs. They began to accumulate all over the house. Denise rolled the paper out on the living room floor, and cut the pieces we needed, and Joycie and I got busy painting.
Some of our signs are basic, and to the point.
And some are rather fancy, with artistic details and flair.
By far and away, our best sign, was made my Joyce. I made sure she signed it.
Joyce is a retired high school biology teacher from one of our local schools here in town. And boy is she fun!!!!! If you went to Norco High, you probably had her for a teacher!
We had signs drying everywhere!
It took us nearly all day to finish. By the end of the day, even with a lunch break, we were all pooped. How does one get so tired painting signs? I don't know, but we were!
When they were dry, we placed two signs back to back, stapled the tops, then slid them over the signs and secured them at the edges with a couple more staples, and our signs were ready to go, complete with wire stands.
Now, if the weather holds, we will go out early on Saturday morning, and plant our signs in preparation for our Sale to take place here on Saturday.
Last night, I made one more pillow, and cut a few more out. This is the one I made last night.
The background fabric for these four is a subtle tone on tone, with holly leaf motif.
I also decided the first pillow I made needed more stuffing, so I opened it up where it had been whip stitched closed, and added quite a bit more stuffing, so that the corners are all nice and full.
Ahhhh, much better. Here are all four lined up on my couch in the living room.
If they don't sell, I won't mind keeping them, or giving some as gifts.
So now we are down to the wire. I will be pretty busy in the next few days. I am not sure how much posting I will be doing. So if I am not back before the Boutique, wish us luck.
See you soon.
XO Kris

Good luck, I hope you sell out on everything. But I do agree, the pillows would be nice gifts. I love the "JOY" ones.
Oh good luck!! If I didn't have to buy a plane ticket to come I'd be there :)
I wouldn't mind keeping them either! They turned out so cute & so did the signs.
How exciting. I really want to make it out on Saturday! I have a few things on my shopping list. Good luck.
It will be a huge success! Hoping for great weather for you!

Jolly Good Luck with it all. What a fantastic haul you have to sell. Wish I was able to jet over for the weekend!!!Did you know 'Biddy' is a Scottish word used to hail someone in a hurry as in 'Hey,Biddy, hurry up and get to the table, food's up'!(My maternal 'Nana' used it all the time!).
So wish I could go!
Good Luck...

Love the signs, you don't need luck because everything you have made is wonderful.
Have fun,

Boutiques are alot of work, but like you say; so much fun. I'm anxious to hear how it goes. Your pillows are darling! I'm sure they will fly right off of that couch. And all of your warm winter woolies should be big hits. Wish I was close and could attend. Best of luck to you all. By the way, saving the signs was a great idea.
Hugs,
Jann
Good luck!! I hope you sell everything.
Good luck, may buyers arrive in droves with heavy pockets and leave with light ones :)
Wishing you lots and lots of luck on your craft fair. It's going to be great! I love the signs that you girls made, and your pillows are just adorable. Makes me think of going to in home craft fairs with my mom when I was younger, at this time of year. Such a fun thing to do!
Best of luck. I know your cute stuff will sell like crazy!

HI Kris,
YOU WILL HAVE SUCH FUN AND WILL SELL OUT BEFORE CLOSING! The signs are great and I will say a prayer that the weather holds out for your boutique day. Can't wait to hear how you make out. Love the pillows, so festive and joyful!

Love those signs, and looks like you had a wonderful sign painting day. Those pillows are stinkin' cute and I don't think you will have any left to enjoy. Wish I was available to come....it's tamale making weekend with my daughter in laws family!
I'm totally thrilled for you to be having this partee. I sure wish I lived in the hood, as I would be right over. I so am eyeing those pillows. I need some BELLs or Jingles stuff for the fam for the holidays. I wonder what we could think up. Back home tomorrow and I'm ready. I've had a cold the last few days, but it's been so nice I refuse to let it get me down. But, now that I'm packed I'm ready to be home and start the next holiday. Sorry, I haven't been too good while away, no google reader here on the laptop. So glad I keep up with you on FB. I did just shut off my FB for the GB and only have my real one for now. I've held my weight pretty well over the 10 days. Only about 1 or 2 up maybe. Back at it when home.
Fingers crossed you do well...
I love those cushions and I think they will definitely sell, and the signs look great, well done to you all!
Good luck and have fun!!

What a great idea with the signs! Looks like you have been quite busy! I love the pillows so adorable! Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
Blessings,
Jill
When the right person comes along and sees those pretty pillows they will snatch them up in no time. I use to do craft shows, my biggest thing was home made Christmas ornaments. I had 4 small trees I would decorate. yes, it is all work, but there is a lot of fun and being with people you love to be around who have put in just as much effort as you did, will make it all worthwhile and fun. The customers aren't always fun, but then there is a Scrooge in all groups and ya just grin and bear it......hope it all sells and is a big success!
