Big Bear Overnighter

Yesterday morning we were enjoying a quiet time here, when Greg said he wanted to go up to Big Bear to see how much snow there was.   So after my order was picked up, away we went.
I had an order for a cream infinity scarf and matching earwarmer, and three puffed hearts.
I loved the creamy white of this set, and the softness of the yarn I used was just the icing on the cake.
I let her pick her heart colors when she got here.  I have done them up in just about every color.

I only took a couple of photos this time.  I had made a reservation for our favorite place to eat up in The Bear.  The Sweet Basil.  Gennifer and Jake got us a gift certificate for Christmas!  We bundled up and made the short drive to the restaurant.  It was 14 degrees.  Brrrrr.  You can bet we had our bun warmers on in the car!!
I had the panko crusted salmon with sweet basil sauce, roasted veggies and rice.  Greg had the filet mignon with lobster and goat cheese stuffed ravioli.  We both had a delicious salad, and for dessert, a vanilla bean creme brulee.  Oh my!!!!  It was heavenly!  The entire meal!
We went back to the cabin and wound up sleeping upstairs because it was soooo cold!!!    Woke up this morning to such a beautiful day!
Greg went out to shovel the back deck, and the driveways.
I watched from the warmth of the cabin.
Sipping hot coffee.  I love this sight from the kitchen window, of all of the icicles.
All of the trees had those clumps of snow on them from the recent storm.  It was so pretty!!
We were expecting to see a lot more police presence with the man hunt of that bad guy.  But we didn't see but a few.
Back home, and another weekend has come and gone.   We have a lot going on next week.  Another grandparents day at school, a Knitty Biddies Valentine's Lunch, and then a full weekend coming up too!
Dusty had his "surgery" this past Wednesday and is barreling through the house with that lampshade on his head, like a bull in china shop.  Broken frames, knocking drinks over, scuffing all of the paint in the doorways.....NICE!!!  He is supposed to keep it on for two weeks.  I can't imagine one and half more weeks of this.  He is a big ol love, and I am so happy we took him, but he does have a whole lot of Marley in him!!!!  The big goof!  He still suffers from separation anxiety, although that is getting better.  And he has a very shrill bark when he gets excited.  Yuck!  And...something must have happened to him in a car.  He cried all the way up the mountain, and all the way down.  A high pitched whine, that just about drove both of us nuts!  I think he needs a little pill before traveling next time.
That's about it from here.  What is going on in your neck of the woods?
XO  Kris

Look at all that beautiful snow and icicles!

Love the scarf set and hearts, they are so very pretty :)

I have been so busy in the kitchen lately, that I haven't had much time for blogging. I can see I have a bit of catching up to do :)

Take care

Oh my.. I've been wondering about the bad guy and if he was hiding out in a house in BB -- please tell me you took a gun or a big stick when you went in there and checked it out from stem to stern! Loved the icicles and snow in the trees. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

My first thought when I saw that you went to Big Bear was - the man hunt! I am glad you were safe while there. The meal you had sounds AMAZING!

Love that photo of the icicles. It makes me miss Idaho.

I'm so glad all was safe for you at BB. I thought of you when I heard it on the news. Your pictures are lovely with all the snow. We drove up to our lake to check on the trailer on Saturday and had a nice hike through about 2 feet of snow.

Your meal sounds wonderful too!
Blessings,
Betsy

Hi Kris, Girl you have been on my mind since last Thursday when I went to a small shop that had ear warmers just like yours-made me think of you. Then this weekend while we were in the mts. I heard about the man hunter and was really worried for you guys. So glad you didn't see that guy. Love your snow too. Hey, about Dusty, go to Whole Foods and get Rescue Remedy( natural relaxing drops for humans and dogs); just put a couple of drops in a dogs water or in yours and it is amazing how relaxed it makes you. I've used it and we've given it to dogs too and it works. Benedryl would be another option as well for Dusty. Hope you continues to settle in well.
Hugs, so thankful you are safe!

Golly, I have to admit, I am a bit jealous of your 14* weather! Here we had about 2 weeks of below 0...somedays our high was -5! My chickens were not happy at all! and now this week...we are about 15 and ICE IS EVERYWHERE YOU GO!
GRRRRR....I am REALLY looking forward to spring! Poor pup! I hope you all make it through this recovery period :) He sounds like a pretty neat ol dog :) I am so looking forward to getting our pup this spring! She will be born here this week! Yay!

Enjoy the rest of your week Kris!

Nothing quite like fresh fallen snow, is there? The hanging icicles are so gorgeous too. the meal sounds yummy. I love creme brulee. I made a new Tilapia dish the other day and it was fabulous. Oh girl, I feel for you driving with a whining dog. Worse than a crying baby I imagine. Hope he does better next time. A little sedative might be the way to go. lol!

Jann

I immediately thought of you when I heard the news of the man-hunt at Big Bear. I'm so glad it didn't seem to affect your visit.

Hi Kris - Your photos are beautiful. Doesn't look like we will get any snow this year. It is always so pretty and I enjoy a couple days of it.I'm so happy to read that the scary situation is over. Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm glad that bad guy situation is over, Kris! That was so sad and scary!

We ave been in baby bliss -- thanks for all your best wishes!
My daughter has been doing a super job as a new Mommy--I'm so happy for her!

It is colder there on Big Bear than here. Even NYC has had more snow than us! It has been quite nice in the 50's and 60's. We're loving Colorado so far! I can't wait to be abkle to do a litle sightseeing soon!

Oh, how I love the time my husband I have spent in Big Bear. When my hubby returned from six long moths away on deployment we spent a weekend in a cozy cabin tucked in the woods. Oh, what sweet memories.
Blessings and Happy Valentine's Day!
