Big Bear Continued

The day after the 4th was pretty low key.  Hannah woke up with a fever.  She didn't want to miss out on any fun, but also needed to rest, so Genny brought the girls to the cabin for some rest.
It was very windy, so we didn't go out on the lake.  We had another good BBQ that night of burgers and grilled Mahi.  Asparagus and brown rice.
Gennifer and Jake took the girls back to their RV and within a couple of hours, Gennifer was calling to come back to the cabin with Claire and a big bag full of soiled clothes and bedding, because poor Hannah Bug got sick!!!  Geeps went off for bleach and Lysol and we went to bed hoping the next day would be better.
But the Hass Family decided to break down camp and head for home, where Hannah would be more comfortable.
Geeps and I headed off to the DYI store in town, and got some things we needed.  We came back and I got busy putting  teak oil on the table out back, and Geeps did the weeding.  We got a new cover for the BBQ, and just did some things that needed doing around the cabin.
Table turned out nice, but I still need to do the legs.  I washed windows, and curtains, and Geeps hosed off decks.  Exciting stuff!!!
On Saturday, our daughter Erika and two of her friends came up.  They hiked Castle Rock, and then we took the boat out.  It was terribly windy, and choppy.  I got motion sick, and felt awful.  I thought I might be getting the flu.  I didn't have my camera on me that day.  The girls left after eating dinner in town that night, and I had a bowl of cereal and went to bed.
Not too exciting this trip. Got home Sunday afternoon, and watered my gasping garden.  Let the chickens out to play.  Spent a couple days getting caught up with things......and now......today.......I am off again.
To the lake.  But not Big Bear Lake.  No sir.  I am going to my first Lake Love.  It's true you know.  You never forget your first love.  My first lake love was here.
Bass Lake.  Lake Heaven.  The place I grew up spending my summer vacations with my family.  The place that holds so many wonderful memories for me, that just the mere thought of it makes me swoon.  My kids grew up going there, and now their kids are going!  But this time, it's just me and my Mommy.  She asked me to ride up with her.  Some family friends are staying on the lake, and have a room with two empty beds in it.  So....what's a girl to do?    Why pack a bathing suit of course, and get going!!!!
Greg has agreed to take care of my hens and gardens.  Drew will take care of the pups.  And I will spend a few wonderful days with my Mom at Lake Heaven.  We will go here.....
More than once, I am certain!
We will splash and play in the lake....and sip coffee on the dock, and swing  under the shade of the trees, watching the boats go by.  Oh...gosh, I can hardly wait.  Sinta, I will be looking for you!!!!
Mom, I am on my way to your house...and off we will go!!!  To our Lake Heaven!!!
See you next week.
XO  Kris

Hi Kris, Of course I loved seeing the rest of your photos-glad you didn't have the flu, but being prone to motion sickness I know it can last well beyond your time in motion.
I have to tell you that hubby and I spent a week at Bass Lake and loved it. Of course being so close to Yosemite helped too. I know you'll have so much fun with your mom and friends. Make those memories girl!
Hugs, Noreen

My Aunt had a cottage that we spent almost every summer at when I was growing up. I felt like I was a part of that lake I loved it so much, so I know how you feel. I am so happy you are on your way to a lovely, peaceful adventure.
Hugs to you,
Meredith

Oh poor Hannah! I hope she's feeling well now and none of the rest of the family got whatever bug it was. Also glad you just had motion sickness and nothing worse-although I've had it and it's icky while it lasts!

Such fun you and your mom will have as Bass Lake. It looks wonderful and similar to our Loon Lake here in Washington.

Speaking of my lake, I had to come home today. I've been cleaning house all day today and doing laundry. I can't complain too much since I've been at the lake since last Monday! :-)
Tomorrow I have the exciting chore of cleaning my carpets. I've been putting it off and now I need to get it done before the summer is over. Then...it's back to the lake for me either tomorrow night or early Friday morning.

Have a wonderful, wonderful time with your Mom, reliving old memories and making some brand new ones.

Blessings,
Betsy

Ugh..Kris sorry for the grandgirl..glad you did not get it. All and all it sounded like it was still a nice and productive time. We have had so much rain it is hard to enjoy much of anything these days.

Sounds like lots of fun is in store for you on this next trip to be with your mom. We have had 18-20 days straight of rain, and now finally it has let up and some sunny skies. Hope you have a great time.
(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
