Maybelle Flower Squares

It seems like I have been working on these flowers for months.   I guess I have been. But not very diligently. I love to make them, and keep a small bag with yarn at the ready so I can work on it every time I have any spare time.  I have begun to make the squares out of the flowers now, and I am seeing that I will need more flowers to complete my lap throw.
My grandson Noah was so cute the other day, when he wanted to help me lay them out on the table.

He wanted to sort them all by color.

I still have a long ways to go, but I will get there.
It is a fun, and portable project to work on!  I mostly make them on the boat and in the car.   A lot of the flowers were made up at Bass lake this summer.
When we got home from the lake this past weekend, I pulled the pumpkin vines.  They were looking so drab and half were dying off.  I couldn't stand looking at them anymore.  The pumpkins that were left on the vines, I have been feeding to the chickens.  They love pumpkins!!
I have a nice big pile of large, medium and small pumpkins.  Some are round, some are tall, some are pudgy, some are small.
I can't wait for cool, crisp days.  I love to decorate for Fall.  Even though we don't get a "true" Fall here like so many of you do.  However, we are still a couple of months away from that.  So the pumpkins will sit in the shade of the orange trees, on the old picnic bench, and wait until it is time.  And then I will bundle my dried corn stalks, and pull out the old barn red wagon, pile up some hay, and  go purchase my mums.  I have a pumpkin colored plaid blanket that will be tossed over a front porch chair, and soon, I will be enjoyeding my Fall, right here on Grover's Grove.
Gotta go get Noah ready for school, and myself ready for my hair cut.  See you later.
XO  Kris

He is so adorable. I love your flowers and you pumpkins, I read on Pinterest about spraying a pumpkin with adhesive and poring glitter over it, it looked so beautiful.

It is going to be just a gorgeous throw. Learning to crochet may be next on my "need to learn to do" bucket list! Noah looks so cute trying to arrange them all. Enjoy your day Kris!

Hi Kris, So good to catch up with you today. Love all your flowers-what a cuddly throw they will make. I have already seen some blog friends decorating for fall-it is too early yet; when we get back from No.Ca. I will be ready though.
Have a great day my friend.

Your lapgan is coming along nicely. It's going to be a beauty for sure! Fall is one of my favorite times of the year too. I like the freedom of summer, but not the heat. Take care Kris. Heather

Noah sure is growing up.. he's getting so handsome! I bet your chickens love the pumpkins.. I might have to buy a big one for ours. LOVE your flower project - I have an on-going one, but it's been staring at me for months un-touched. Oh well. Enjoy your cooling days, I know you love them. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Your "lap blanket" looks like a full-size one in those pictures. Very pretty! Good for you for sticking with it too. It's hard for me to do that most of the time. Noah is getting bigger and his face is changing. You probably can't see it as much as we can in the pictures every now and then since you see him nearly every day. Nice pumpkins!

Noah is so cute sitting there playing with the pieces of the throw. They are so pretty and colorful. It's so cool to see the pumpkins with the names on them. I remember you posting about your grandkids putting their names on them as they were growing.

Oh, what I wouldn't give for a spare minute to crochet again. Your granny squares are wonderful, I do them in the car too. What a great project, coming together. Bet the kids are loving their pumpkins.

Your grandson is a doll. What a good little guy to want to help you with arranging your flowers. I am sure like most children he is doing more playing with them then actually arranging them, but oh what fun! My grandson knows how to say the word "ball" and when he came here the other day he was all interested in all of grandma's yarn "balls", so many colors and so many different sizes of balls. Oh the wonder of it all, finding something new to check out.

What a handsome helper you have! He did a great job on laying out the flowers.

Your pumpkins look like FALL...I'm ready for cooler weather but we never really get a change of seasons in south FL :(

Can't wait to see your fall decorations...won't be too long now.

I loved seeing the progress on your flowered blanket, Kris and seeing your esteemed blanket consultant :)
Your pumpkin crop is beautiful and what a wonderful treat for your hens! Did you see the idea of peeling Cuties and sticking a little stick of celery in the center to make them look like a pumpkin treat? I think I saw that on FB, but am not sure, but thought it was a cute idea you might like to use at some point.

Your crocheted flowers and squares will make a lovely quilt. I love all the colors!

The pumpkins are wonderful! The ones with your grandchildren's names scratched into them came our great, Kris.

I am looking forward to my first autumn in Colorado. Thankfully the hail storm did not strip all our trees of leaves!

I would love to sort those colors as well! This reminds me of the little rounds I've been crocheting, using up remnants of yarn. What will they become? Only time will tell. It looks like you've had a good pumpkin harvest!
