Nana's 99th Birthday Party

On August 1st, my grandmother, Nana, as we call her, turned 99!!!   Yesterday we had her birthday party at my Uncle John's house.  Here is the Birthday Girl in her Birthday Hat!
Next to Nana is her big brother Joe.  He will be 102 in November!!!  And to the right of Nana is my Mom.
We had a good time celebrating.  Everyone wanted a photo with Nana!
x
My brother Mark in the red shirt, is catching up with our cousin  Kelly.  She had to sit in the sunshine all day, and the rest of us were looking for shade.  She is from Portland, and said she never feels the sun.
My nephew Don and his wife, Kaylen, drove down from the Bay area.
All of the kids had a ball in the pool!!

Gennifer, Kelly and Don.
People often ask, what is the secret to the longevity in our family?  Well, my 99 year old Grandmother, and her older brother Joe, still enjoy a nice cold beer every now and then.  Maybe that is the secret?
Johnny and Sue got a beautiful birthday cake for Nana. And it was so delicious too!!
 We sang Happy Birthday......
And she got lots of kisses....
And hugs....
Uncle Joe was not left out.
It was a nice party.  I think Nana enjoyed it a lot.  After My Mom and brothers took Nana and Joe back home, a few of us somehow wound up at Johnny's Bar, and before long, he was pouring his famous Pina Coladas.
Johnny is my Mom's younger brother.  He is actually only a few years older than my oldest brother, and he lived with us throughout his teen years.
We sat outside at his bar, and visited some more.  It was such a pleasant evening, and so enjoyable.  I even had a Pina Colada!!!!
It was a really nice day.  Thank you Johnny and Sue for hosting Nana's party.  A good time was had by all!!
XO  Kris

I'm a Nana to and hope I get to a ripe old age. Happy Birthday to your Nana.
What handsome men you have in your family too!I hope your cousin Kelly wears plenty of sunscreen and a hat if she stays out in the sun so long.
Looks like a very enjoyable day - especially the bit about the Pina Coladas!

What a wonderful day, I love Nana's hat it is just darling. The people in our family live long lives too. I think that generation wasn't exposed the the garbage in the food, water, and air that our generation is exposed to. Looks like everyone enjoyed their-selves.

WOW!!!!!!!!! and WOW again! How wonderful to still have the elder cherished loved ones in your family circle. Your Great Uncle Joe was just a knee high toddler when the Titanic went down, heavens! And look at your Nana, amazing. I am sure they could tell all kinds of stories from their past, and they have lived and seen all sorts of history. They both look a bit spunky. What a blessing for you and your family to be able to spend the day with them.

Thanks for including us in the celebration, Kris! I especially enjoyed the photo of Nana with your Grands, and the multi-generational pose :) It is so exciting and amazing Nana is living such a long healthy life!
With the gathering of some of the elders of our family we have turned on a recorder/video camera and encouraged them to tell some of their life memories. Have you done that? It would be so interesting to know how the first auto they had, or first plane ride, or seeing the first man walk on the moon affected them.
Love with hugs from Gracie :)
