Our Southern Belle

If you have followed my blog for any length of time, you know that our family has a very special Matriarch.   My Mom's mother, Mary.  But to us, she is Nana.  Nana is loved and adored by all.  We celebrated her 99th birthday only 4 short weeks ago.
Nana is "plum wore out" as she would say.  I have been away from my blog, and from home, sitting with this sweet lady, along with all of the family.  We  hold her hand, share stories, make sure she is comfortable.  Last night, my Mom and daughter and nephew and I, even shared a bottle of wine while sitting in her room with her, telling favorite stories, laughing, and wiping away a tear or two.  Nana is tired, and ready to meet her maker.  We are making sure that her journey is peaceful.
I will be back soon.
I end this with another Nana-ism,
Be Sweet!  Toodle Loo!!

My Nana used to say 'I've lived too long' and perhaps Nana Mary is thinking the same. Celtic Blessings to her and her Beautiful Soul. How comforting for her to have you all around her at this time.
(My Mum's name is Mary and my little princess calls her Nana Mary).

Oh Kris.. I wish I could give you a big old hug. You are so lucky that you've been so close to her and that she had such a love-filled life. My parents moved us from Oklahoma to Oregon when I was 4 and I mourn the loss of being able to be with my grandparents more. We rarely saw them and then they were gone. Sad. I'm here for you if you need me. ((hugs)), Teresa

Hi Kris! I have wondered about what was going on with you as you haven't posted recently, so I am glad you took the time to catch us up. How blessed you have been to have had this wonderful lady for soo long, and yet I know first hand how hard it is to let go. Cherish these last times with her, and I will pray it will be a smooth transition for her and you all. Big hugs to you!

We are all spiritual beings going through a human experience here on earth. When God calls us home then that is when we truly begin to live. It is hard for those left behind because we miss the ones we loved. You will see her again,God has promised that. In the mean time, cherish what time is left, hold on to all the sweet memories. I know she is special to all of you.
