What? It's December????

Hidey Do!  I have had one busy week here!  After spending Thanksgiving at my Mom's, I cooked a turkey the following morning.  We enjoyed that turkey so many ways!  We had cold turkey sandwiches, and salads with turkey meat instead of the usual chicken.  I made a Turkey Pot Pie for my neighbor.  And then, our favorite way that we enjoyed it, was with Hot Turkey sandwiches!!  Starting with good white bread, mounds of mashed potatoes, then topped with slabs of turkey breast, spread with cornbread stuffing, then smother the whole thing in hot turkey gravy.  Serve with some cranberry sauce on the side!  To Die For!!!
Oh mercy, were those ever good!!!  So good, that I can't wait to make another turkey for the hot turkey sandwiches alone!!!
I was driving up the street the other day and happened to have my camera in the car with me.  I was so struck with how pretty the trees were up at the top of our street, I had to pull over and take some photos.

They were already past their peak of color, and about to lose all of their leaves, but I thought they were photo worthy.
Then upon returning home,  as I was turning onto our street, and heading up to our house, I again stopped to take a photo.  The trees that line our street have all lost their leaves now.  Their skeletal branches are looking rather wintery.
As I pulled into the driveway at home, my husband was outside putting up our Christmas lights.  Indeed, it is December!
I woke up Monday morning with "a wild hair" and just could not wait another minute to do something that I had been thinking about doing for a long time.  I called my Mom, and said " what are doing?  Can you come over?  I need you."  She said, "what's wrong."  I chuckled and said, "nothing, I just have an idea about rearranging some furniture in the house, and no one can move a house full of furniture like you and me!!!
She was here in an hour.  We spent the ENTIRE day changing EVERYTHING in my family room, and my kitchen.  Drew did the heavy lifting with me, and Mom gave me her expert advice and ideas.  We meshed the ideas I had, with hers, and came up with what I think, is a perfect solution and fix for a room that never quite worked for me.
Come on back tomorrow and I will show you what we did.  And along with that, Christmas has arrived here at Grover's Grove.
XO  Kris

We're watching "Elementary" and I saw your post pop to the top. We also enjoyed days and days of turkey, taters, gravy & dressing leftovers and I loved it! We need to bake turkeys at other times of the year, it's so good. I can't wait to see what you'd cone with your house!

Your hot turkey sandwich sounds yummy. My daughter gave me her recipe for turkey tetrazzini which was delicious and a definite keeper recipe. I had never made it before and after eating it, I honestly don't know why.

You are so blessed to have a mom that can "pop" over when you call. Mine passed when I was just 29 and not a day goes by that I don't miss her. Give your Mom a big hug from me next time you see her. Please?
Blessings,
Betsy

It seems so funny to see someone hanging Christmas lights in shorts and tee shirt! Far too cold here to be doing that. Looking forward to seeing the results of your furniture shuffle. xx

I could climb right into my monitor and grab a bite of that hot turkey sandwich, and frankly it is before 7 am, so that should tell you how yummy it looks.

Your blog is looking fantastic Kris, I bet your newly arranged room is too.
Hugs,
Meredith

Oh, your hot turkey sandwich looks wonderful! I'm cooking a turkey this weekend! I can't wait to see what you've done with your furniture arrangement! I used to move our furniture around all the time, the hubby said he feared getting up in the middle of the night, you never knew where I'd move something! I've slowed down, a lot. Love that your mom came over to help, that's how it was with my mom, too. Can't wait for your next post!

It made me chuckle to see Greg out there in his shorts! He'd need his long-johns, here!

I'm with you about leftovers. I'll bake a turkey just for the sandwiches. I did make a delicious pot of soup with the bones and bits of meat that were left. What fun to roll up your sleeve and change things up a bit. A new look is good for us now and then. Extra special when you and your mom can do it together. Happy holidays, Kris.

I'm thinking of roasting a turkey breast just so we can feast on sandwiches during Christmas!! You sandwich reminds me of the "hot brown" made famous by the Brown Hotel in Louisville, KY.

Best,
Bonnie

I need you to come over and motivate me to rearrange my furniture. Except for when my hospital bed was in the family room after our accident, the room has been the same for years. I'm stuck in a rut decorator. Hugs, Lura

I have such a small living room that it seems impossible to change anything around. I have only 2 ways to arrange the furniture and that is it. Can't wait to see what you did with yours. That turkey plate looks so good. I have another turkey in my freezer. I will bake it to just get the meat off and refreeze it for sandwiches and soup and such. My hubby use to like turkey once a year and that was at Thanksgiving. Now me, I could eat it anytime.
(((HUGS))) Susanne :)

Kris,

From your delicious turkey dish came tons of savvy and scrumptious spin-offs - your hot turkey sandwich looks delicious! And, it seems eating this led to other spin-offs - in rearranging your rooms!!

Can't wait to see what you've cooked up in that creative mind of yours!

Your neighborhood trees are simply beautiful Kris. We have a portion of our outside lights up but still the the trees and shrubs to do.

What a great way to spend time with your Mom... Win-Win :)
