Big News!

Our daughter got engaged over the weekend!!!
Neal asked Noah first, if he could ask his Mom to marry him.  He had him help ask.  I thought that was very special, and very thoughtful of Neal to include Noah on his proposal.   Neal has a little girl, one year younger than Noah.  He also asked his daughter, before asking Erika. Linkyn  also approved.  So even though we had a very low key Easter BBQ at the house with the kids, we had a little champagne toast to wish them well, and welcome Neal and Linkyn into our family.
The ring is beautiful.
She is on cloud 9.  We are really happy for them!
Easter was a pretty quiet day.  We didn't get together unitl the evening.  We BBQ'd two salmon pieces.  One was a bbq honey marinade.  One with a drizzle of olive oil, sliced lemons, and thinly sliced onions, salt and pepper, and dill from my garden.  We also BBQ'd a Tri Tip, and hot dogs for the kids.  I made a cold broccoli and bacon salad, brown rice pilaf with mushrooms, and homemade dinner rolls.  In the morning, Noah and I made a Bunny Cake.
Starting with two rounds.
I normally cut the bow tie with more curve.  I used canned icing to save time.
Cover cake in coconut.  Reserving a small amount to color pink for middle of ears.
Noah read the box on the food dye and insisted we add some blue to the red in order to achieve pink.  Finally, I said, ok, go ahead.  We got pinkish, blueish, purplish ears.  But it was his bunny to do it how he wanted to.
He made the bunny face with M&M's, and licorice for whiskers, with more M&M's on the bow tie.
Such concentration!
To finish it off, a few pastel sprinkles on the ears.  And then, voila!  All done.  An Easter Bunny Cake.
He was so proud of his creation!  He said he couldn't wait to eat it!!!   We had an Easter Egg Hunt in the back yard, instead of the front, like we usually do.
I didn't take any photos!  I was busy cooking, and getting it all together.  Gennifer took these for me.
It was a busy weekend!  A fun weekend!  And a big news weekend!!!!
Congratulations Erika and Neal!!!!!
XO  Kris

Congratulations to your daughter and to you in getting a new son. That was so sweet of him to include the children in the proposal. A good start to the marriage.
When our middle son Jamie was small, his birthday fell on Easter one year and I made him a nearly identical bunny cake! You brought back some memories for me.
Blessings,
Betsy
