There's Fire in Them Thar Hills!!!

Just a quick update on the fires here in So. California. A lot of people have been calling to check on us, and our family in Yorba Linda. We are fine here in Corona. The fire started here, but sort of a ways away. By yesterday afternoon, it had gotten really bad, and spread like crazy towards Orange County. My Mom has been evacuated since yesterday. She lives on Black Gold golf course, and it came right to the fence all the way around her complex. The golf course even lost their clubhouse! So, she and Nana, who was also evacuated, are staying with my brother Mark until they get the word that they can go home. Also, several other friends have been evacuated, and some even had damage to their properties, but so far, no one we know has lost their home. But there are many who have. It is so sad. I know that the important thing is that the people are safe, but losing one's home would be devastating. So, as it looks right now, the winds have died down, and they seem to have a handle on the fires for the most part, but they are no where near contained yet.

Hi, I just read your post. I didn't realize that the clubhouse was burnt where Grandma lives! Did it burn down or just structural damage? Wow, that is so scary how close it is/was! At least Gma and Nana are safe and sound.

I have been watching and reading the news on the fires in Southern California. I read that one had broken out in Corona (Green River?) but don't know much more than that. Thanks for the update. Thank heavens for fire fighters and I'm glad you're safe. Breathing the air must be awful!

Hi Lauri,
Yes, it started at Green River. But it never got smokey here at all. It seemed to quickly move towards Orange County. There was so much lost in Anaheim Hills, Yorba Linda and some in Corona too. Very sad. How are you? Not much going on lately?
