It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas......

Yesterday we got our house lights on, our tree up, although not decorated, it is up, and as pretty as ever. I have the house pretty much decorated. And with the chillier weather, I am in a comfort food mood. I had a hankering for Beef Barley soup. And a CRAVING for my friend Armenia's Peruvian Arroz Con Leche. Yummy! This is a picture of the soup before the finishing touch which is to saute a pound of sliced mushrooms in a few T of butter, and then add a quarter cup or so of red wine. Reduce it a little and pour into soup and serve. Top with some fresh chopped parsley. This soup is our favorite!

A peek of the tree, but I will wait until there are decorations on it to post another photo.

This is the rice pudding. I called Armenia to see exactly how she does it. It was yummy, but Armenia, yours is still better!!! You have the touch!

Kris,
Looks just like my grandma's pudding that she used to make me. It is yummy and looking at it reminded me of how my grandma would stand at her white little stove and cook it for me when I was little. She also used to make me this really great hot chocolate. I bet it was really bad for you because I know she would make some sort of paste with flour in it. It was the best...... Could of used it this a.m. as it started to snow fa la la la la!
