I think it's Valentine's Day

Well, for the first time in my life, Valentine's Day is here, and I haven't had the time to do a thing for the special Valentine's in my life. I have been at home all week with a very sick grandson. So I haven't been able to leave the house except to take him to the doctor. And in my evening hours, I have been doing what I can to prepare for a bridal shower we are having here at our house tomorrow for our daughter Erika's best friend Laura. So, in lieu of that fact, I wanted to write a little something about my Valentine.
My Valentine and I have been married for 30 years this coming summer. Our first Valentine together I will never forget. Not because he made it special, but because he didn't acknowledge it at all really. Despite the fact that we come from two very different families, who celebrated holidays in very different ways, I have come to appreciate so many things over the years about a man who is loyal and honest, and loving, and who shows me special kindnesses every day of the year, not just on holidays. Oh, and he has come a long ways in the gift giving department too. So, I am going to keep him.
He goes out to get the paper in the wee hours of the morning to bring it in to me to read over my coffee. He drops me at the curb when I am in high heels or when it is raining, and then goes to park the car so I won't have to walk. He always helps me prepare for a party, and is a wonderful host to our guests, and then helps with the clean up when they leave. He walks through the door every night, with a smile on his face and a kiss hello, no matter how awful a day he may have had, or how bad the traffic was on his way home. He takes me to get frozen yogurt when he knows I have had a bad day, and always lets me pick the movie and a place to dine out. He always tells me I look great, even when I know I don't! He never tells me not to have that cookie, when I am 20 pounds overweight. He is the best father and grandfather, and it melts my heart when I see him with our grandchildren. He is my best friend, my loyal partner, my Valentine every day. I love you Greg!

That was a sweet post. You two are pretty cute. And, you should note that when he goes to get you the paper every morning, you don't just have an average length driveway, you have to walk almost 1/4 mile there and back to deliver that paper!

I hope your grandson is feeling much better! Poor little guy!

The shower looked lovely. How much fun to be able to do that for your daughter's friend. I loved seeing your wedding dress. What a neat way to display it!
