Valentine's Day Cookies

Getting started with 46 iced cookies. I did this part while Noah took his nap, and thank goodness he took a good nap yesterday for me. Everything had to be done in carefully planned stages. The dough making, the baking, the royal icing making, then icing the first coat, and finally, the finish work which is the decorating. I have never really tallied the hours put into an order like this, but my best guess, from baking to decorating and preparing for delivery, would be about 12 hours.

Nicole asked me to do one dozen of them with Valentine sayings. That was fun.

I had found these darling Valentine boxes to put them in. Unfortunately, I did not plan on torrential rain yesterday when I was icing. The royal didn't dry hard enough to stack any cookies, even with tissue paper between them, so I could only put them one layer deep. And they were so large that it was quite interesting finding a way to package them for transport.

It all worked out, and I hope Nicole's Mom got them to Nicole without any cookie casualties. I forgot to tell her that I put a couple extra in there, just in case. Feel better Nicole...and enjoy your cookies!

I was reading your post and my 5 year old was sitting beside me. She saw your cookies and said, "Oh, Those look pretty...What are they?" I told her they were sugar cookies, and she said that "Those are too pretty to eat!" And she is so right! But I would have no problem taking a nibble!

Darling cookies, I think they are my favorite so far! The boxes are cute too, do you have any extras? I'm in the mood for cookies!!

Extra cookies that is, not boxes, just wanted to make that clear. And, I agree with you, the time it takes to make those darn things is crazy!!

Thank you Debbie, Janene, and Kristi,
The cookies, while I love the creative process, are simply too time consuming to ever really be lucrative. Extras....nah...I sent the extras with them in case any broke. I had a couple that were total rejects, but they are long gone! Sorry.
