Arrrrrrr

One of the gals in Gennifer's circle of friends, Amy, called last week and asked if I could do something for their mutual friend Tawny's baby "sprinkle" for tonight. Tawny has a darling little girl-Sammy-almost 2, and she is having a little boy-Travis. Sammy and Travis will be sharing their room, and she has come up with fun themes for each of them, neither feminine nor masculine really, but colors and all will mesh so nicely. Sammy will have ladybugs in black and red, and Travis will have pirates in black and red. So....this is what I came up with. Amy wanted the ease of cupcakes since they are having it in a restaurant. I wanted to send along my cupcake stand, and I had bought ribbons in wide black with white polka dots, and tiny red with white polka dots, and then a sheer black, but Gennifer brought the cuppies to the party and wanted them to travel very stable in the carrier. So...no ribbons. Sorry Tawny...they were darling.
Tawny loves a mango filling in a cake she gets from a bakery in Riverside. I researched it and made a fresh mango filling for the cuppies. I made white almond sour cream cupcakes, and filled each one with mango filling and iced in buttercream. The pirates were all done in gumpaste.

Omigosh, Kris, they were so DARLING! I couldn't believe it when I walked in and saw them lining the table! SOOO, SOOO creative and cute! They were almost too cute to eat, but luckily I got to take some home and Joe and I have almost had 5 each :) So yummy! You'll have to make our anniversary cake this year :) Thank you so much for your hard work, they turned out delicious!

Thank you Amy. I enjoyed making them! Thank you for that website. I had not seen that before. Hey, if you are going to try to make Taylor's birthday cake yourself, you are welcome to borrow my cupcake pan to make one of those big cakes. In fact, I think that first one pictured has Taylor written all over it!!!!!!

Soooo cute! I love these ones! Along with a small Woody cake for Derek's birthday, I think I'll do cupcakes too. So start thinking about something 'Toy Story' themed for the cupcakes!! =)
