Fancy Cupcake Cases

These fancy paper cupcake cases are all the rage right now in the world of cupcakes! But they are very costly! I saw somewhere that someone had taken regular doilies and using a regular paper cupcake case as a template, cut the outer edges of a doily to form their own. The doilies have gotten quite expensive too it seems. But this is still tons less expensive, and you get the same look. They would be perfect for a ladies tea or a special occasion where you just may need a few. I am thinking Mother's Day. I love this idea!

Cute idea. You should have your own show on the foodnetwork. I think yours would be better than Sandra Lee's Semi-Homeade!

I totally agree with Genn. It's so funny that you posted about those. I was on the internet like two days ago wanting to order some, but they are sooo expensive. Do you know if they are reusable? My idea was to get some that could go with a couple different occassions, and then only use one for the cupcake that sits the highest in the stand. That way you don't use too many. Fun!!

Hi Kris- I have the giant cupcake pan...Jimmy got it for me for Christmas a couple years ago. I had issues using it, but I think I found the trick now. I needed like a box and a half of cake mix and I had to bake the deeper side for ten minutes before putting the other side in to bake. It seemed to work. Thanks so much for offering though. I might need a decorating ideas though! Thank you!

Gennifer, thank you for the nice compliment.
Kristi, they are about 12-14 dollars for 10 of those paper cases. I wouldn't think you could reuse them. The one I took a picture of is not a good example because they should be used on cuppies piled hight with icing. Mine were a flat design, so the case came way too high. I wouldn't use them for a big order, but they would so pretty for special little gifts, or to highlight just a few of the cuppies. I have a bunch cut out from my doilies to use.

Oops, and Amy, yes there are some quirks to using that pan. The first time I did it was for Jake's birhtday. It was beautiful for about 10 minutes, then disaster struck! One side does indeed need to bake longer.
I think that site you gave me had some wonderful ideas.

Hi Lauri,
Those cuppies were something I saw on one of my cake websites. The idea wasn't my own. Nor was the paper case. For the fancy cupcake case to be really pretty, you need to have a cupcake piled high with icing. This one wasn't a good one to demo it because the icing design is rather flat on the top. But, you get the idea anyway.
How are you enjoying your little ones this week???
