This N That

I am feeling much better these past couple of days.  Here's what's happening in Grover Land lately.
We are having the exterior of the house painted.  The last thing on our list of things to do to the house for a while.  In hind sight, I should have had the windows installed the very last thing!  The windows were put in, and then professionally cleaned, and they were so sparkling and pretty.  Then we had the new roof done and they were awful!!  I washed them, and they were nice again.  Now the house is being painted.  They started yesterday with power washing the whole outside of the house.  Guess what the windows look like again?
Looking outside every window today I saw the same sight.
They were busy at every window and around every corner.
Scraping, sanding, priming.  They finished the stucco repair and did a fantastic job!!
Now the windows and doors are all covered with plastic sheeting, and we are trapped!!
Seeing this picture reminds me that I still need to get the patches painted from where the old curtain rod hung.
So we are keeping busy in the house today.  Noah has done his chores.
He hijacked my new iPad.
We changed all the batteries in the big toy trucks.
Noah is full of P & V today!  Having to stay inside all cooped up with a Gamma who doesn't feel like playing too much.  But he has been a good boy!
I have spent the past several weeks looking for a new comforter for our bed.  FINALLY found one I loved. At Kohl's.   It is CHAPS, and was more than I wanted to pay, but I waited for a sale, and then I had one of those 30% off coupons come to me in the mail, so I got it for a great price.  It was reduced 65%!  I LOVE the colors.  They are the same as I had before, really, keeping with the brick reds and warm yellow-golds.  But it has a pretty splash of blue in it.  So I am looking for fabric to make a couple pillows to go on the bed.  I love the coordinating bed skirt in that greenish grey plaid.  It sort of neutralizes the feminine floral having the reversible plaid turned down at the top end.  It is also very thick and has seams sewn down the blanket to keep it stable and in good shape the way I like it.  You sure get what you pay for.  A bed in a bag is great for a bed that doesn't get much use, but not for one where your four legged  Wheatie likes to come running at full speed to jump onto, and 3 grand kids like to hop up onto to see themselves in the mirror, and all of that jazz.
I need to steam the bed skirt.  But I love it.  It is very full too, with lots of pleats.
You can see the splash of blue here.  I will post another pic when I find the right fabric for bed pillows.
I have been harvesting more yellow squash and zucchini than I know what to do with.  All of the neighbors and kids have had deliveries, and we have had it grilled, steamed, and in a casserole tonight.  And there is no end in sight for it.  I must pick about 10 good sized squash a day.
I way over planted in my garden boxes.  And those mystery seeds I simply tossed in between the two boxes and scattered a little soil on top of have taken off like crazy too.  I have even trimmed back these enormous leaves several times, and enough to fill my compost bin with them too.  But the squash just keep on coming!
I think I am going to have a lot of cucumbers too, and this cantaloupe is doing very well.
I am still on all of this stuff, but definitely on the mend.  Now if we can just get Mr. G fixed up we'll be looking forward to greeting the summer and all of the fun things we usually do.
My daughter Gennifer got me these gorgeous red roses and lilies.  The lilies haven't even opened up yet and this is still beautiful.  They make me feel better too.
So there you have it.......all of our messes, and our achy breaky bodies too.  Last weekend when I was feeling so blue, Mr. G said to me, "remember Bunny, if He leads us to it, He'll lead us through it."  So I leave you with that optimism.

Wow, you're crossing some major projects off your "to-do" list. I'm envious. I need to have my windows replaced but I'm procrastinating.

I love the pics out of your window, because of how nice it will look soon. And the garden boxes, I can only dream as AZ right now is scorching everything.

Delighted to meet you. I hope you don't mind if I splash around a bit. This looks likes a great place to slip off my shoes and dip my toes.

Splashing,
Sara
