TIM-BER!!!

Today we had to have the big beautiful pine tree removed from our front yard.  It mysteriously died and it soon became apparent that it was going to have to come down.
Boy I sure wouldn't want to do this for a living!!
It will take a year to dry out, but we will be set for firewood next winter.
I hated to see it go, but it had to.
After a week of temperatures in the triple digits, one day it got to be 108, this weekend is absolutely gorgeous!  It only reached mid 80's today, and the sky is a perfect blue, with a nice breeze blowing!  A beautiful day today!  I have replenished my yarn to finish this summer afghan, and I am sitting out here in the front yard, even a little bit chilly (imagine that!) me and my basket of yarn, hooking colorful summer stripes to my hearts content.
Oh I just love it!!!
These are not my usual colors of choice.  And maybe that is partly why I am so loving this throw.
I hope you are somewhere enjoying this almost fall like, glorious day today.
Toodles......

Wow, I wouldn't want to be a tree trimmer either. That is a neat picture you got of the men up in the tree.

The afghan is looking really pretty!
It was a beautiful day today. I didn't run my air and I used the oven. I love it.

Hi Kris~ it's a big job taking one of those trees down, we have a dead 40 footer, too, that needs to go! Great firewood! Love your afghan~ the colors look so happy and cheerful! It will be fun to cuddle up with! I used to crochet a lot years ago, I really need to start again~ so relaxing and creative! Glad it has cooled down for you~ I am lovin' the cooler weather here, too!!

No I don't think I would like the job of removing that tree either - what a shame it had to go. I love the colours of your throw - lovely and bright and it's very pretty!

Wow! That throw is luscious. Sorry about the tree, but at least you guys are recyling it. I had to go back and read about the pizza. It looks so good, one of these days I'm going to try one out. Enjoy a wonderful week Kris!

Hi Kris: I always try to meet a new blogger or two each week. I just found you on Wives With Knives and love the title of your blog. So far, I'm not doing well at simplifying but I'm trying. I love the colors in your throw--so joyful.

Best,
Bonnie

I love the colors...they are wonderful for summer! We , too, had to lose an old friend...our liquid amber tree on the side of our house that dies too for no apparent reason...it was 3 years ago , but it's death gave us 6 new white birch trees that we would never had if it weren't for that. Plus the birds planted a seed pod in one of my pots and now I have a 3 year old liquid amber waiting to go in the ground!

Happy Monday Kris, Did your grandson get to watch the men taking the tree down? At the last preschool I worked at one of the dads was a tree trimmer and he came to demonstrate how to do it.
I wouldn't be afraid of the heights-just the chain saw. Here, we don't have wood burning fireplaces-just gas. At least the tree didn't fall on your house or family. Love your latest project.
Have a wonderful week my friend.
Hugs, Noreen

Oh I LOVE your granny blanket! I keep trying different crochet and knitting projects and so far they are all unfinished :( This is making me want to drag out my yarn and try again!! Now I'm off to try that chocolate chip scone recipe--yummy!! I'm just now getting caught up on my blog reading and yours has made me hungry :)

Hi Kris: I'd love the cilantro pesto but my husband truly detests cilantro. Years ago, I read an article that said most eastern europeans (of which he is one) hated cilantro. I've had cilantro pesto on broiled tomatoes. Oh so yummy! I also have a freezer full of asparagus pesto. Oh my goodness is that delicious!

Best,
Bonnie

Kris - I have to confess that it was daughter, Genn, who gave me the courage to admit that I am so over this flat hair and I really like my big hair! I love how she mentions that about herself in her profile...and her hair! So cute:) I sure wish she was MY hairdresser!!

Oh - and her girlies...too adorable!!

Hope you are having a great Tuesday!! Thanks for stopping by this morning...and try to get a post together for Friday with Friends!!
