Cozy Weekend

Good Monday morning to you!!  It is mighty chilly here in So. California today!  When I woke up, the rooftops were all white with snow.  Okay, not really, it was frost.  But it was white.  And it was pretty!   It rained most of the weekend, and it was so nice.  On Saturday I took a class all day at my local knit shop.  LOVE this project.  I won't reveal what it is until it is done, sometime later in the week.  But I am using two yarns together, and I love the bulky texture by doing this!
And I found a great new blog, and am trying her textured basket weave dish cloth too.  Not nearly as quick as the others I have made, but I love the pattern!
And I am also working on a crochet afghan, that I have now "frogged" three times!!!!  GRRRR~~~
But I did have the best seat in the house while working (frogging) on my projects yesterday.
At first glance, you might think Ducey has the best spot.  But if you look more closely, you can see that I have moved a comfy chair in front of the fireplace for the winter.  It is the THE best spot in that room.  It is in front of the fire.  Has a nice bright lamp right next to it.  An ottoman to rest my feet.  AND, I can even see the telly if I want to.  PERFECT!!  This is where I was all of yesterday afternoon, knitting, and frogging!
The rain came down hard at times this weekend.  And as typical Californians who seldom see rain like this, we had to go stand at the front door and watch!
Ducey was very curious about this strange "wet stuff" falling from the sky too.
He went from this spot...
To this spot....all day long!
Today is absolutely BeaUtiFul!!!!  Noah has no school this week, so I think we will make cookies, and have an indoor play day.  Maybe Hannah and Claire can come too.
On a side note, I am gearing up for Christmas.  I saw this darling bucket the other day at Target.  They only had two left.  So I snatched one up.  I am going to just have a very small tree this year, and it is going inside this.
Isn't it cute!  I love the jingle bells that go all the way around the top of it.
Lately a lot of bloggers are listing some of their favorite things on holiday posts.  I have been trying some of them out for myself.  I found this Meyer's Soap in Basil at Target.  It was in someone's list of favorite things.  Can I just tell you....it smells WONDERFUL!!  Not like the herb really, but fresh and clean, and yummy.  I bought the pump hand soap and the dish soap.  I also discovered this J.R. Watkins soap, in Lemon.  I love the old fashioned label on the packaging.  It will be the perfect addition to the gifts I am putting together to go with my hand knitted dish cloths.
Another favorite thing here in our house, is Trader Joe's Pumpkin Pancake and Waffle mix.  YUM!   One night last week, I made breakfast for dinner.  Pumpkin waffles, fried eggs, and applewood smoked bacon!  Low Cal....NO!!!   Delicious...YES!!!!!
For the first 30 years of our marriage, (we just celebrated our 31st in September)  Greg never set foot in the kitchen, except to eat what I had prepared.  Now, we both cook together often times!!  He is a pretty darn good helper too!!!  And we have found that we really enjoy cooking together.
He made the waffles, and I made the eggs and bacon.
It is the start of the Holiday Season.  I hope you are all enjoying it!

It's been a little chilly here but not cool enough for frost. Wish we had a fireplace like your beautiful one but here in Phoenix, we don't really need one. I'm excited to see what you're knitting.

What are you doing knitting, you traitor!!! Ha-ha. I'm a crochet snob.

I just got home from work & I'm sitting in front of my fire too! It's pretty darn cold & so far we have received nearly 4 inches of snow! I hope it stays all week and they cancel work ;)
I love your knitting project, the two colors are so pretty together! I'm thinking it's one of those cool winter hats with the flaps over the ears?? I'm probably way off ;)
Enjoy your week with Noah w/o any school!!!

Oh Kris your right it is REALLY cold for us California girls AND if you can believe this we finally went to turn our heater on for the first time in this house (we keep our house SUPER cold, most people complain, but we like it)and my hubby couldn't get the pilot lit. He could always do it at the other house so it never occured to him that he couldn't...It was 56 in here ~ a little cool even for me, haha.. Your "perch" (as my kids call my comfy chairs) for the day was just perfect! We haven't lit a fire yet though that will probably happen tonight with no heater yet. You are always soo productive and busy with all of your projects. You put me to shame...and if you are "fluffy" figured, then I am overly fluffed, haha...I have never tried Trader Joe's pumpkin pancake mix, but I will have to. My hubby ordered Mimi's pumpkin pancakes last night for dinner, and let's just say he was MORE than a happy camper. Enjoy your week with Noah...

I love your house, and it looks especially cozy in these pictures. I really like that chair in your winter spot. What a comfy and relaxing place to sit and read or relax, or knit, or eat or whatever!

I love TJ's pumpkin pancakes too. I was just there last night. Should have picked some up. Got 4 bottles of wine instead. ;)

Hey Mouse, how ya doin'? Just kidding. Congrats on 31 years and being able to be in the kitchen at the same time. How many bro's do you have? Enjoy your week w/ your grand-babies. The red and white project has the shape of a water bottle! Love the red tin and your Rooster canisters on the counter. My temporary kitchen until the house sells is Rooster themed. Could I borrow 'em? It's cold again today. Here in the San Gabriel Valley where my shop is looks as if we're gonna get more rain. Stay Cozy and enjoy!
PS love your blog name. I keep trying to do it...simplify my life!
