Pioneer Woman At My House!

Well, "P Dub" herself may not have been, but her food was!  If you don't have her cookbook, RUN to the nearest book store to get it.  It is wonderful.  Especially if you grew up on comfort type foods like most of hers are in this book.  My Mom is a wonderful cook.  While growing up, she made many of these same down home good meals that are in Ree's cookbook.  Chicken Fried Steak, Pot Roasts that have simmered for hours, REAL mashed potatoes, with homemade gravy to ladle over the top.  Now you wouldn't want to be cooking like this every day, as it can be a little heavy and unhealthy to indulge in such rich down home goodness all the time. But boy oh boy, there is no cookin' like comfort cookin'!!  I do so love to cook.  I get that from my Mom.  And when the days get shorter, and weather turns chilly, I love to cook even more.  Yesterday was no exception.  It was the perfect drizzly day for Pioneer Woman's meatballs in home made bbq sauce.  And the time was right to pull out the bread machine and get her all fired up again with homemade, hot out of the oven bread!
Meatballs in sauce, steamed broccoli, wild rice and hot English Muffin bread.  Solid comfort!  If you have a cook on your Christmas list this year, I know he or she would love this book.
My daughter just called and has an opening today to pretty my hair up.  Think I will go short again. Tonight our son Drew is playing  at Vito's Bar & Grill in Tustin.  It is supposed to be crazy busy the night before Thanksgiving.  If you are all caught up with your holiday plans, come on out and hear some live music!

Looks so yummy! I'm going to have to try some of her recipes, everyone just loves her!

So funny that you mentioned that comfort food! I just had my Mom and Dad over on Sunday for a pot roast with mashed potatoes, gravy, and a horseradish cream. It is fun to cook like that when the weather turns, but like you said, not everyday! They'd have to roll me out of my house! Have fun getting your hair did!

Yummy, looks delish. What is it about this weather that makes you want to cook...I mean eat?

Good luck to Drew, I will have to be with him in spirit, hopefully next time we can be there in person.

I think we all kind of feel that way. Cold nights just means lots of good comfort food doesn't it? This book sounds wonderful. Enjoy your night tonight and good luck to Drew.

Hi Kris, thanks for stopping by. I'm gonna paste my answer to your question here (as well as in my comments on my blog) about my shop just in case you don't go back to read it!

"Kris, we have a parcel packaging, shipping, gift wrapping, mailbox rental, notary public type of store. Like Mailboxes Etc. except we are independent and can do what services and products we choose. This is our 19th holiday season. It's gonna get crazy busy in here really soon. Thanks for asking!"

I can't believe it's been that long. I get tired of working all the time so I plan to make some changes real soon!

I love English muffin bread. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and have a blessed day!

Hi Kris, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Did you catch the throwdown between P.W. and Bobby Flay-it was so good with so many good ideas for T-day.
I also read yesterday's post and loved seeing you sitting enjoying the fire on your rainy day.
Hope you have a bountiful day tomorrow.
Hugs, Noreen

Thank you for the compliment on my down home cooking.

Try The Pioneer Womans Braised Short Ribs. I made them last week-end for Nana, and they were just GREAT.

Happy Turkey Day......gotta go cook...............Mom

I made her meatballs a few months back and the family loved them. What time does the ham come out of the oven, and what should I bring? Hope you and yours are having a great Thanksgiving.
